Job Summary:

Vail Resorts’ F&B business comprises hundreds of dining venues ranging from quick-service casual, to bars, to full service and fine-dining across our mountain resorts. As a senior leader of the Vail Resort’s F&B Center of Expertise (COE), the Senior Director Operations will develop and lead the F&B guest- and employee- service strategies, and drive a breadth of complex operations to elevate and continuously improve the entire F&B line of business. The Senior Director will leverage data insights and program management prowess to ensure executional excellence. This leader will oversee a team that provides critical support to mountain resort F&B operations ensuring our teams have the knowledge and tools to deliver exceptional guest and employee experiences. Leveraging the inherently inclusive nature of our company, the Senior Director will be responsible to build practices, tools, and culture that welcomes employees to the Company and sport, and grows leaders.  The ideal candidate will have a senior level of experience demonstrating revenue and profit business acumen, change management/transformation, operations management, and a passion for team leadership and collaboration across multiple departments.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leverage business acumen to drive execution across F&B operations to achieve guest experience, employee experience, and financial goals.
  • Drive change management and continuous improvement through effective program management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage business performance indicators and insights to inform near and long-term strategies that translate into actionable operational programs with measurable results.
  • Structure and manage numerous, simultaneous projects and initiatives demonstrating strong program management prowess (quality, timeliness, deliverables).
  • Partner with resort leaders to ensure that the best processes, tools, standards, feedback channels are in place for all resorts to execute at the highest level.
  • Work closely with F&B Culinary, F&B Strategy/Performance, and cross-functional department leaders including Marketing and IT   to embrace, align and execute continuous improvement.
  • Craft F&B front-of-house guest service strategies and operational plans.
  • Lead overall beverage program strategies, operations, partners/vendors.
  • Collaborate with environmental sustainability and strategic alliance teams for strategic programs.

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience leading large change efforts in a commercial business environment; food & beverage experience a plus
  • Experience in customer or guest-facing enviornments preferred
  • Experience leading program management, operational standards, processes, and training in service environments
  • Strong learning agility and resilience; enjoys and excels in environments with the opportunity to tackle and solve new and increasingly complex strategic business challenges.
  • ‘Servant leadership’ and collaboration attributes and track record driving programs and service delivery in large, cross-functional, matrix-management structure
  • High level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness; ability to be effective across a breadth of stakeholders including resort associates and executives
  • Proven general business, management, and revenue/profit acumen
  • High proficiency with online collaboration tools (e.g. Slack/Teams, Sharepoint, or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s’ degree or equivalent work experience required; MBA highly preferred.

 

 The budgeted range starts at $125,500 - $156,900 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
