Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Omni-Channel Marketing and Operations, this role will be an instrumental leader in driving the Digital Experience performance .  With a strong focus on driving revenue, guest experience, technical thought-leadership, strategic leadership in the customer’s digital journey, and executional excellence, this leader will lead and mentor a team of digital strategist and tacticians to drive aggressive growth goals across our 37 North American resorts and the Epic Pass Brand.     

 

This role is critical to the next phase of growth for the company, including building a holistic e-commerce and conversion strategic roadmap, hiring and developing SEO leadership and capabilities, and optimizing buy-flow and guest-experience through technical and strategic thought-leadership throughout the guest journey.  The right candidate will have a diverse digital background, understanding how to drive and develop a large team at scale, while partnering with senior leadership across the company to advance our data-driven digital strategy, including marketing expansion to include our 2 newest resorts in Switzerland with a focus on GDPR compliance and maintaining data-driven advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

This role will report to the VP of Omni-Channel Marketing and Marketing Operations, and will own the Digital strategy, execution, and performance optimization for all Vail Resorts websites (resort/epic/snow.com).  Responsible for the technical roadmap for the websites to improve scalability and efficiency across all resort brands and products.

 

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

  • Web Content Strategy:  Building the tooling and systems to scale and drive efficiency in content management, while also building a robust and engaging content roadmap in close partnership with Line of Business Leadership (E.g., Resorts, Epic Pass, Ski School, etc) and Channel teams (e.g., Paid Media and CRM) to connect the full digital guest journey with compelling landing experiences that drive engagement and revenue.
  • UX/UI: Full audit of our web experiences to recommend improvements for usability, guest experience, and conversion performance.
  • SEO Strategy and Performance: Leading a team of SEO experts to drive content and technical back-end improvements that improve natural search ranking and performance.
  • Buy-flow improvements and optimization:  Identifying points of weakness in the digital experience (related to conversion or guest experience goals) and partnering closely with the marketing experimentation team to build an out-front roadmap that drives consistent improvements.
  • Data capture best practices: Auditing and improving the data capture rate and quality from returning guests, new guests, and lead-generation.
  • Value optimization for logged-in state: Creating a clear value exchange for guests on why to login to our website and app to drive the best experience for the guest through content and product personalization.
  • Technology and Innovation Roadmap:  Working closely with Digital IT leadership to evaluate CMS and back-end product solutions to create opportunities for greater agility, scalability, and automation to then create space for higher-value revenue generating work.  Partner with SLT leadership and EC on Innovation roadmap for the digital experience.
  • Digital Analytics: Thought-leadership and partnership on digital KPIs to drive growth and maximize revenue from each website visit through insights, testing, and a data-driven learning agenda.
  • Executional Excellence:  Lead a large team to seamlessly juggle strategy and execution
  • Managing multiple tenets and brands.  Thinking strategically on how to manage a house of brands that have connections across.
  • Team Development: Leadership and team development is a top priority and will require a leader who knows their own leadership strengths and weaknesses deeply, and can lead and mentor the team, including succession planning, individual development plans, and career pathing.
  • Resource Efficiency:   Drive thought-leadership on ways we can be more efficient in our ways of working, including tools, talent and processes so that we can scale our impact to the enterprise while the business and resorts supported grows over time.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, digital marketing, communications, computer engineering or related field. 
  • 10+ years experience in Digital / E-comm with a commercial focus
  • 6+ years experience managing and developing marketing teams of 5 or more employees.
  • Strong understanding of B2C marketing strategies & tactics required; preferably in hospitality, travel, or ski company
  • Track record of developing data-driven strategies that result in business growth.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with various content management systems, and product solutions.
  • Digital Technical back-end experience is preferred
  • Deep understanding of experimentation, test and learn, and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to articulate and champion digital experience best practices
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience managing direct reports with a focus on leadership and career development

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $168,719 - $215,519 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
