Job Summary:

The Resort Application Development (RAD) Team is a software development team within Vail resorts that is focused on the support, maintenance and development of Guest Connect. Guest Connect is the Point of Sale system that sells Lift Tickets, Season Passes, Ski and Ride School and other miscellaneous products. This team works with many other Vail Resorts applications such as our Digital platforms, Food and Beverage and Retail systems.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our team. The Sr Data Analyst role will be completing extracts and analyses for business units to present findings and recommendations to business leaders. This person will be responsible for creating and delivering reports that will help provide insights that drive financial command and control of the business. They are phenomenal at driving operational improvements and have a solid technical background, with the capability to give instructions to a non-technical audience.

This individual will also work closely with our Resort Production Maintenance (RPM) team to troubleshoot ongoing data support and reporting issues. Other responsibilities include quality assurance responsibilities, such as test script development and execution, creating production support and training documentation, & compliance responsibilities. This role will report to our Sr. BA Manager of RAD Applications.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy periodic operational and financial reports to internal stakeholders that will provide them with greater understanding and lead to opportunities and improvements
  • Gather and develop business requirements; collaborate with business stakeholders on the analysis of business and functional issues; understand technical requirements, participate in solution design, quality assurance and execution
  • Document and communicate findings and insights to business leaders; develop a robust documentation repository; document quality assurance process and any variations in findings; review and document data analysis methodology
  • Ensure all compliance requirements (SOX/PCI) are met
  • Develop code, data tables, data mining, and automate reports to support internal custom analytics
  • Identify data sources needed to produce required data sets or reports; extract knowledge and information from large data sets
  • Conduct analysis and confirm results; optimize queries for performance; identify issues related to data, data sources and data processing
  • Demonstrate an excitement to work within a small flexible team which may require performing ad-hoc jobs to complete tasks
  • Ability to participate in a robust, motivated and engaged team
  • Build strong relationships with business & IT partners, vendors and stakeholders to ensure alignment and proper prioritization
  • Participate in operational support for product applications, utilizing the Heat and Jira systems, including weekend on-call support on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous environment and deduce meaning from limited amounts of available information
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of successful relevant work experience
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft SSRS, SSIS and Excel
  • Shown success in communicating ideas and providing recommendations using data
  • Previous exposure to development, documentation and maintenance of business data models
  • Describe yourself as a “go-getter” who is curious and enjoys working at a rapid pace
  • Proven ambition to take on additional ownership, assuming responsibilities outside of day-to-day deliverables
  • Excellent customer service skills with a demonstrated customer-focused, service-first attitude
  • Superior verbal & written communication skills and the ability to communicate with various levels of leadership

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a ski resort or hospitality field
  • Experience with RPOS/RTP or similar software applications and relational/multi-dimensional databases
  • Experience with Python, R, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI or other similar tools
  • Experience with the Atlassian product suite: Jira, Confluence, Bamboo and Bitbucket

 

The budgeted range starts at $90,000-$113,000 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
