Job Summary

We are looking for a curious and dynamic Business Analyst to join Vail Resorts’ rapidly growing Marketing Technology Data Warehousing group. This role will primarily support our BI and Data Warehousing functions, with secondary responsibilities in CRM, hospitality and financial planning applications. This Business Analyst will serve as part of a team of IT Subject Matter Experts responsible for delivering high quality BI, Data Warehouse, and reporting tool solutions. 


The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable moving between the product owner, business analyst and quality assurance spaces, as this role requires flexibility between each of those disciplines. This position brings value to the organization through the thought leadership, data acumen, process design, business partnership, and collaboration with our development team. We're looking for a candidate that enjoys unwinding data as much as they enjoy facilitating business requirements workshops.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business partners to define and document business requirements
  • Work with solution architect to convert approved business requirements into functional/technical specifications to be handed off to development staff
  • Define success criteria, create and execute test plans for Data Quality Assurance
  • Conduct ad-hoc data exploration and research on net-new source systems and existing applications to support feasibility analyses
  • Lead Quality Assurance Testing and User Accepting Testing with developers and testers – Identify, document and track issues through resolution
  • Assist Project Managers with assessing project level of effort, resource planning, risk management and scope containment
  • Provide operational support for production issues arising in the Customer Master and Data Warehouse ecosystem.  Work with various IT teams to troubleshoot issues.
  • Assess severity/priority of production issues, determine business impact and communicate progress during resolution.
  • Work with business and IT partners to understand different approaches to delivering data with multiple Analytics and Reporting tools
  • Interface and collaborate with outside vendors to source data from 3rd party tools into the Data Warehouse or desired platform.


Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated business analysis experience, delivering cross functional projects
  • Ability to coordinate and lead peers through requirements, design and testing process
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable speaking with and translating between technical and non-technical team members at all levels of the organization
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Strong documentation skills required
  • Keen attention to detail, ensuring high data quality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects as well as application maintenance and support
  • Experience delivering projects using SDLC. Exposure to both Waterfall and Agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable speaking with and translating between technical and non-technical team members at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, comfortable with shifting priorities
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Information Systems, Computer Science or related concentration


Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with Analytics tools – SSAS, SSRS, SAS, Tableau, Alteryx
  • Awareness of Cloud Tools and Data platforms – AZURE, Snowflake, AWS
  • Awareness of Adobe Experience Cloud tools – Adobe Campaign Classic, Adobe Analytics
  • Experience with Financial Planning Tools – Planful, Anaplan, Prophix, Vena Solutions, etc.
  • Strong Excel skills – Macros, VBA, Advanced Formulas
  • Experience with ERP & Procurement Tools – Oracle PeopleSoft, Coupa, Concur
  • PMI-BA, IIBA, or other accredited Business Analysis certification or coursework is a plus



The budgeted range starts at $85,000 - $113,000 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
