Job Summary

The Vail Resorts Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. We are crafting a new fully centralized Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in our corporate headquarters near Boulder, Colorado, to support a growing company of 37 resorts across Australia, Canada and the United States, 55,000+ employees, and a market capitalization of over $10 billion. The Senior Analyst will partner with leaders to drive planning, forecasting and financial management, aligning our resources with the achievement of our strategic goals – both long and short term. This leader will form relationships with leaders and will evaluate key trends across resorts and lines of business to influence our highest priority business decisions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Business Partnering

  • Partner with corporate and regional leadership teams, Corporate Finance and Accounting teams

  • Perform analysis of exposure and return for all business decisions, making recommendations for optimizing financial impact

  • Developing analyses, tools, processes and procedures to facilitate and monitor business initiatives

  • Participate in periodic conference calls/meetings with business partners to ensure accurate forecasting

Strategic Analysis

  • Develop innovative analyses on all aspects of the rental and retail business, including industry trends and competitor trends

  • Participate in Quarterly Business Review and present to Operational leadership team

  • Collaboration across Operations, Marketing, and Finance in leading and developing all sales performance financial models and forecasts

  • Present sophisticated financial modeling in simplified form to Retail Leadership and senior finance executives regularly

Budgeting

  • Partner with regional leadership team to develop comprehensive annual operating and capital budgets for all stores in region, including details by day and month.

  • Conduct post-mortem analysis on capital investments to assess profitability

Forecasting

  • Develop daily and monthly sales forecast, segmented by product, category and location

  • Support the winter bi-weekly forecast process and understand how variables such as historical performance, seasonality, promotions, and the macro/micro economic environment affect the current business trends

  • Lead the monthly forecast meetings, providing trend analyses, forecast recommendations and assess Retail’s risk and opportunity

  • Prepare a comprehensive quarterly financial review to present to senior leadership team

 

Additionally the ideal candidate should be / have:

  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel

  • Expertise in quantitative analysis and presentation

  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous simultaneous priorities

  • Outstanding problem solving skills

  • Ability to adapt to and excel in a fast-paced environment

  • High energy and the ability to work highly independently

  • 4+ years of experience (or 1-2 years with MBA or other graduate degree) in finance

The budgeted range starts at $73,000-$88,950 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
