Job Summary:
The Principal Technical Product Owner (TPO) plays a pivotal role within Guest Experience Technology (GXT) to support our data-driven, best-in-class digital experience. This is a senior product leadership role responsible for executing the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of guest-facing mobile applications. This position partners with business leaders to shape future roadmap prioritization, and deliver high-impact mobile experiences. This role combines strategic product management with hands-on ownership of discovery and delivery. The Principal TPO brings principal-level expertise, leads through ambiguity, and ensures strong outcomes across internal teams and third‑party vendors.

Job Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Collaborate with stakeholders with the mobile product vision, own & deliver the multi‑quarter roadmap aligned to business and guest experience goals.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify future capabilities, gather requirements.
  • Translate strategy into actionable features, MVPs, and phased delivery plans.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with Marketing, Digital Experience, Analytics, and Technology teams.
  • Serve as the product leader within a business vertical, operating similarly to a SAFe Product Manager.
  • Lead pre‑PI discovery, support PI planning, and ensure alignment across teams and workstreams.
  • Drive clarity and alignment across dependencies, priorities, and delivery timelines.

Discovery & Principal-Level Analysis

  • Lead complex discovery and solution assessment efforts.
  • Break down ambiguous problems into clear epics, features, and user stories.
  • Define business capabilities, value streams, and future‑state mobile workflows.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to align on scope, priorities, and success criteria.

Backlog & Delivery Ownership

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog of epics to maximize value delivery.
  • Ensure high-quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and readiness for development.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, UX, and QE to ensure feasibility, quality, and performance.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, groom & refine the backlog and participate in release planning.

ThirdParty Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary product partner for mobile delivery vendors.
  • Ensure vendors understand the product vision, standards, and expectations.
  • Review deliverables for quality, alignment, and value; address risks and gaps proactively.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Business Analysis, including senior or principal roles.
  • Strong experience working in Agile and SAFe delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to define roadmaps, epics, and product strategy.
  • Proven success delivering mobile or digital consumer products.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with mobile app platforms (iOS, Android, APIs, mobile analytics).
  • Experience working with third‑party delivery vendors.
  • Background in ecommerce or large-scale digital platforms.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and analytics or monitoring tools.
  • SAFe PO/PM, CSPO, or similar Agile certification.

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $103,707 -$159,549 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
