Job Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for generating group revenue across eight lines of business at multiple resorts. Primary responsibilities include evaluating, targeting & solicitation of, negotiating, and contracting group business opportunities for Vail Resorts’ group destinations. Ensure proper and timely turnover to ensure quality service delivery. The position is responsible for achieving revenue and room night goals across the resorts. Work with the Director of Sales and Revenue Optimization to maximize the revenue potential of the property by effectively utilizing the meeting space and up-selling each business opportunity. Drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Execute incoming group sales lead conversion process including evaluating, qualifying and quantifying material leads, engaging with clients, developing timely proposals, while working with internal stakeholders to meet and exceed customer preferences, while following Vail Resort specific advance commitment strategy.
  • Solicit, close, and contract group business using collaborative planning, creative selling and negotiation skills.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through pro-active sales communication, select tradeshow participation and in-resort events.
  • Work collaboratively between all Enterprise Sales Teams to ensure the property needs are being achieved and the sales efforts are complementary.
  • Leverage the following digital sales tools to drive conversion
  • TrueTours virtual property site tour platform
  • SendSites customizable sales proposal platform
  • CVENT Hospitality Industry “RFP” management platform
  • Knowland Hospitality Industry client and event research platform
  • Understand the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply, and demand, etc., and know-how to sell against them.
  • Provide accurate, complete, and timely turnover of definite business to the Service Team to help ensure quality service delivery.
  • Partner with the Service and Operations teams in providing a customer experience that exceeds the customers' expectations.
  • Work with the sales teams to evaluate and close the best opportunities based on market conditions and resort/property needs.

 

Responsibilities Extended:

  • Achieve and/or exceed team lodging and lines of business “LOB” goals.
  • Execute efficient sales process focusing on converting material business: “right resort, right rate, rate time, based on resort specific strategy and need times for the properties.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and file maintenance when needed.
  • Execute designated sales strategies to develop and solicit specific accounts to achieve revenue goals.
  • Effectively manage and develop relationships with stakeholders.
  • Effectively use sales resources and administrative/support staff.
  • Responsible for weekly sales activity reports.
  • Contribute to the health and strength of dynamic team culture.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree preferred. However, any combination of education and training within conference sales may also be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Teams
  • Experience within Salesforce and Delphi FDC is preferred.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication skills and English proficiency

 

The budgeted range starts at $50,000 - $60,900.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
