Job Summary: 

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing plays a pivotal role in driving enterprise value and fostering innovation across multiple categories, including Infrastructure, Equipment & Supplies, within Mountain & Hospitality Operations. Based at our Broomfield, Colorado headquarters, this role reports to the Director, Strategic Sourcing and partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver impactful sourcing solutions. The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will work closely with business and functional stakeholders to understand their needs, and will indirectly lead a small group of operational and strategic team members through a broad set of sourcing and procurement activities to achieve results. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in supplier negotiations and contract management.

  • Starting Wage: $76,841.70 - $100,034.21 + annual bonus  
  • Employment Type: Year Round

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Lead strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management across key resort spend categories.
  • Develop and execute multi-year category strategies that align sourcing objectives with broader business goals.
  • Conduct spend analysis and implement sourcing roadmaps focused on cost savings, supplier performance, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Champion leadership development and continuous improvement within the sourcing team.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO),program compliance, supplier scorecards and savings pipeline.
  • Advocate for the company’s mission, vision, and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

 

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Business, Finance, Supply-Chain Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, ideally within resort or hospitality-related categories.
  • Professional certifications such as CPM/CPSM are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven success in leading end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives and multi-year category strategies, including planning, negotiation, and contracting. 
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams across diverse sub-categories within sourcing and procurement. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trust with internal and external senior stakeholders. 
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to develop and apply pricing models tailored to category-specific needs. 
  • Financially savvy with a clear understanding of how sourcing strategies drive business value and impact EBITDA. 
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team success and stakeholder alignment. 
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, insight-driven messaging. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook); experience with sourcing and procurement platforms preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Positive, professional demeanor with a focus on service excellence and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $76,841.70 - $100,034.21 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
