Job Summary

The IT Mountain Applications team is a technology management team within Vail Resorts (VR) that is focused on enabling operational processes with a suite of vendor-supported applications and solutions.  We are business leaders, delivering solutions that enable Food & Beverage, Health and Safety, Parking, Digital Signage and Snow Surfaces.

Vail Resorts is looking for an experienced IT Business Analyst that enjoys working in a fast-paced multifaceted environment. A Business Analyst on this team will become a leader, subject matter expert and partner to VR business operations and vendors. 

This role will provide operational support and maintenance for Mountain Applications vendor-delivered software solutions. Other responsibilities include liaising with operational and technical teams, gathering and documenting business requirements, solution design, test script development and execution, and quality assurance for a variety of technology solutions.


Job Responsibilities

  • Operational Support
    • Ensure all operational support responsibilities are met, including management of support queue, maintenance activities, and upgrade tasks  in accordance with defined procedures and SLAs for multiple applications
    • Ensure all compliance requirements are followed and maintained including quarterly duties as assigned.
    • Provide support and guidance for internal users in IT and the business
    • Perform season startup preparation for various applications as tasked
    • Work closely with local IT resources to ensure local operations success and stability
  • Project and Portfolio Management
    • Support the execution, delivery and financials for assigned projects.
    • Adhere to QA Life Cycle by developing test plans and test scripts, documenting test results, reporting on results and managing UAT while coordinating usage of test environments.
  • Vendor Relationship Management
    • Support mutually beneficial opportunities for Vail Resorts and the vendor using processes, technologies, and people to drive results
    • Ensure that financial responsibilities for vendors are met in a timely manner
    • Review and advise Mountain Applications leadership regarding  vendor product maintenance and upgrades for technical roadmaps
  • Team Work / Collaboration
    • Willingness to work across multiple teams in an open and collaborative way to design holistic solutions in a fast paced environment
    • Identify and socialize with Mountain Applications manager opportunities to better integrate with other lines of business.




  • Minimum of 2 years of IT Business Analyst and/or related IT / Resort Operations experience.
  • MS Office, Visio, PowerPoint, Smart Sheets, SharePoint
  • Work order system experience, such as Heat, Jira, etc.
  • Test planning, use case development, test script creation and quality assurance
  • Requirements gathering and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced and complex environment as a part of a team (IT, Business and Vendors)
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent in related job experience
  • Work experience in the travel and leisure industry or hospitality preferred
  • Basic query and data analysis using database platforms, including MS SQL Server


The budgeted range starts at $62,500 - $73,000.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
