SUMMARY OF JOB

Responsible for oversight of all Workers Compensation Lost Time Claims and oversight of the Workers Compensation Medical Claims Administrator. Facilitates the care management plan for an employee who is injured or ill as a result of a workplace incident utilizing and integrated care (IC), employee-centric approach. Working closely with HR, Benefits, Compassionate Care, the Claims Adjuster, supervisors, the employee and his/her family, the IC model functions to bring forward resources available from the Company and the employee’s local community to assist in their journey to recovery and return to work.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for directing and managing the Third Party Administrator, (TPA) in all workers compensation claims
  • Directly oversees the TPA’s administration of  all assigned lost time claims, tracks lost time and coordinates safe return to work program with all care team members
  • Via telephonic outreach, ensures employees have access to and understand information/resources available to them through various Vail Resort departments and from other community resources
  • Directs the work of the medical claims administrator assigned to her/his role
  • Interacts with state and local agencies, care providers, HR, Workers Comp Adjusters, legal counsel, medical providers, resort management, Health and Safety team,  Sr. Mgr of workers’ comp and employee to coordinate integrated, employee-centric work comp model
  • Plans and conducts stewardship meetings with resorts’ leadership
  • Analyzes claims data to identify emerging trends in incident management and response
  • Develops and conducts manager training, webinars and roundtables to communicate processes and trends
  • Oversees regulatory compliance in states in which the company is self-insured
  • Creates and distributes OSHA summary logs
  • Interface with senior leadership on financial reports and claims activity
  • Directly leads and manages workers’ compensation specialist(s)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree required
  • Workers’ compensation experience as adjuster or case management
  • Registered nurse; Licensed Workers Compensation adjuster or prior work experience with workers compensation
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20%
  • On Call 24/7 for crisis management
