Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Director of Program Management to support the Vail Resorts Marketing Organization. The successful applicant will lead the team responsible for driving and continuously improving the operational model for MSC with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and impact.  This role requires a combination of drive, organization and flexibility. The role requires a highly resourceful individual who manages through complexity, demonstrates strong communication skills, and the ability to lead and influence people who are not direct reports.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Vail Resorts business strategy and high priority goals to help align and prioritize resources accordingly.
  • Partner closely at the Executive, Vice President and Director levels to support key areas of process that enable the success of our on highest priorities,
  • Partner with executional, technical, and operational teams across multiple organizations to continuously optimize for efficiency and impact.
  • Identify opportunities for new and improved processes, oversee implementation and lead teams through adoption, provide overall process expertise to minimize bottlenecks. 
  • Engage with appropriate stakeholders to drive alignment on objectives and success measures; facilitate issue resolution and roadblock removal to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Provide vision and leadership regarding long-range enterprise planning, and resourcing of large, complex and undefined enterprise-wide initiatives including all aspects of management from vision through execution.
  • Manage large, complex projects and programs to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality.
  • Manage program level budgets and spend with an eye towards repeatable on-time, on-budget, in-scope project delivery.
  • Ensure candid communication about potential risks and takes action to mitigate.
  • Drive accountability by tracking critical follow-ups and milestones.
  • Provide strong program and project delivery mentorship using their track record of delivering complex initiatives
  • Manage and mentor a team of project management and process transformation professionals.
  • Demonstrate an unyielding passion for the guest experience, culture, mission and vision. Lead by example and inspires others to follow.


Job Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
  • Experience establishing and running large cross-functional programs.  Experience in marketing operations or digital operations preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience including proven ability to successfully lead and oversee critical projects and multi-faceted efforts.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted expert. Informed on industry standards and practices, and a forward thinker on new innovative approaches.
  • Experience working with VPs and C-level executive in a business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of key concepts across the various Marketing business areas, including highly technical marketing concepts.
  • Ability to take an enterprise view that includes process and impacts, along with many projects and stakeholders in order to ensure enterprise efficiencies.
  • Comfortable with digging through details and complicated situations to ensure the best outcome for the enterprise.
  • Proven ability to drive large scale transformation through process change that increased agility, scale and efficiency.  
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum and Waterfall methodologies and other project management philosophies.
  • Ability to bring new ideas, methods, and approaches to Vail Resorts and this role.  Leverage own expertise to challenge the status quo and drive process optimization necessary to improve our business processes and related technology.
  • Effective communicator that ensures process and deadlines are understood and enforced across organization to minimize bottlenecks.
  • Prior process transformation and project management experience, preferably in the Marketing space. Understanding of how to facilitate change across and organization.
  • Ability to connect with and lead others who do not directly report to you, and to manage/oversee a significant number of resources across multiple teams.
  • Strong business acumen; ability to understand and communicate business impacts key decisions that impact process and timelines.
  • Committed to the development and growth of team that reports directly to you and to others who do not report directly to you.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to external vendors including influencing product roadmaps, resourcing, and financial management. Ability to work through vendor contract management issues.
  • Technology advocate and highly proficient in project management tools. 
  • Ability to manage initiatives from concept through to completion, including the development and presentation of a business case.
  • Oriented to quality and attention to detail.



  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale, enterprise-wide process transformation and optimization
  • Familiarity or experience with Adobe Workfront, Agile/Kanban methodology, Jira, Smartsheets.
  • Familiarity with process frameworks such as APQC, IP5 or similar


The budgeted range starts at $125,000 - $156,900 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
