Job Summary:

The Director of Influencer and Social Media Marketing will serve as head of influencer, organic social and paid amplification (boosting) strategy, performance and go-to-market integration for all brands within the Vail Resorts portfolio.

 

This position will report to the Senior Director of Brand Communications and play an integral role in designing and overseeing the deployment of strategic influencer and social media initiatives that advance the financial performance of Vail Resorts’ lines of business. This includes Epic Pass, Resort Visitation, My Epic Gear, Hospitality, Ski and Ride School, Retail, Rental and Group Sales. This role will also proactively promote Vail Resorts’ investments into the guest experience, including digital innovations such as My Epic app and Mobile Pass.

 

Applicants must possess the proven ability to lead at scale, managing central department and agency resources, while working in partnership with marketing and guiding regional Comms teams throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

 

The ideal candidate leads with an enterprise and growth mindset and capably manages cross-functional and executive stakeholders via exceptional presentation and business storytelling. Experience executing high-impact influencer and social media campaigns required.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $117,000 - $150,000 + annual bonus + equity

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Enterprise Influencer program focused on curating powerful creative assets that leverage third-party credibility and advocacy to drive high- to mid-funnel awareness and consideration amongst diverse prospecting audience
  • Lead paid media (boosting) strategy for influencer assets on Meta and TikTok; work cross-functionally with Marketing Directors to identify opportunities to leverage influencer creative cross-channel in RM, digital, etc.
  • Manage internal team and agency resources executing influencer deliverables including identification and vetting, outreach and negotiations, creative briefing, trip planning and content capture, content creation, paid amplification, and performance analysis and optimization
  • Provide centralized support and strategic direction to Mountain Communications teams executing regional and local Earned Ambassador Influencer programs, as well as reactive inquiries in season
  • Run organic and paid amplification (boosting) social media strategy, performance and go-to-market integration for all brands within Vail Resorts’ portfolio of resorts, including Vail Mountain, Breckenridge and Whistler Blackcomb
  • Editorial and creative ownership of Epic Pass social platforms; manage team designing and deploying insights-driven storytelling strategies, building editorial calendars and capturing original content in service of building the Epic Pass brand
  • Work cross-functionally to cultivate depth of knowledge amongst all LOBs, then build insights-driven strategies that drive brand differentiation and affinity, and support business growth by influencing consumer purchase decisions
  • Leverage business storytelling skills to efficiently gain executive-level alignment on strategic influencer/social media efforts and associated spend
  • Lead influencer and social media measurement and reporting for full Communications team, including Brand, Mountain and Corporate Communications divisions
  • Manage $2M+ annual budget for project implementation
  • Provide counsel and risk analyses to executive stakeholders; consistently serve as force driving alignment throughout the business

Knowledge & Skills

  • Exceptional project management with a strict attention to detail and the ability to work against tight deadlines, adapt to changing priorities and manage projects autonomously
  • Deep influencer and social media marketing expertise, including significant experience managing influencer relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead at scale; effectively manage stakeholders via excellent presentation and business storytelling capabilities
  • Oversee internal staff; manage resource allocation by prioritizing initiatives that drive the most impact
  • ​Strong commitment and ability to produce high-performing, high-potential talent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships with co-workers and external partners including influencers

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or similar applicable field is required
  • 10+ years of in-depth professional experience with at least 5 years management experience (internal staff and agency resources)
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time from December-February

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $117,000 - $150,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
