Job Summary

Vail Resorts is searching for an experienced labor relations professional to join our Labor & Employment Legal Team as Director of Labor Relations. The role will be located in Broomfield, Colorado and report to the Senior Director (Labor & Employment), Assistant General Counsel! As a collaborative team, we act as strategic partners to all divisions of the Company on labor and employment issues. The Labor Relations Counsel role requires an agile and flexible problem solver, who can successfully handle the Company’s labor relations strategies, projects, and initiatives. Job Responsibilities

  • Manage union-related programs, including campaigns, elections, collective bargaining negotiations, management training, contract/agreement oversight, grievances/ULPs, and other critical initiatives.

  • Provide day-to-day advice to legal, HR, and business teams on broad range of union and collective bargaining activities, including issue spotting, strategy, planning, compliance, and project execution.

  • Investigate and resolve labor-related grievances and charges, and collaborate with the investigations team in connection with internal investigations involving union employees.

  • Train internal teams on traditional labor, union, and collective bargaining issues.

  • Collaborate with outside counsel on labor issues, including grievance arbitrations and legal proceedings.

  • Adhere to, support, and promote the Mission, Values, standards, and goals of the Company and Team.

  • Assist with and advise on additional employment law issues as needed.

  • Other duties as necessary and assigned.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of traditional labor relations experience, preferably in an in-house or corporation setting.

  • Master’s degree; Juris Doctor preferred, with at least one active state bar admission.

  • Familiarity with labor relations, including organizing, campaigns, elections, at-the-table bargaining, compliance, oversight, investigations, and NLRA/NLRB regulations and procedures.

  • Impeccable communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and a service mentality.

  • Creative problem solver with strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly under high pressure conditions, meet deadlines, successfully multi-task, and to effectively handle different situations with flexibility, patience, positivity, and tact.

  • High integrity and capability of building trust and credibility quickly.

  • Standout teammate with proven ability to foster productive relationships with diverse groups of individuals; ability to succeed working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Capacity to anticipate problems and key issues, and to exercise sound judgment in making reasonable decisions and appropriately escalating issues as necessary.

  • Commitment to professional growth, enthusiasm, humility, humor, and receptivity to feedback culture.

Preferred

  • Experience working with major corporations, including in the travel and entertainment industry.

  • Experience working for NLRB.

  • Employment law experience.

 

The budgeted range starts at $125,500 - $156,900 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
