Job Description

 

The Business Intelligence team is looking for a Business Intelligence Development intern who will play a key role in the success of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) at Vail Resorts. The primary role of the intern will be to work closely with business and IT stakeholders in carrying out the technology and strategic vision defined by the various stakeholders supported by the EDW.   Reporting to the Sr. Manager Business Intelligence Development, this individual will be responsible for translating business requirements into high quality data assets through the development of high quality ETL solutions.  The ideal candidate will be a strong contributor in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with the ability to work closely with the internal team (Business Analysis, Development, and Project Management) and our business partners (Marketing Sales and Communication (MSC), Hospitality, and Mountain Finance) in implementing the EDW vision.  The internship will be a learning opportunity to understand the Datawarehouse Development role on a Business Intelligence team and gain exposure into career opportunities at Vail Resorts. 

 

Key Job Objectives:

 

  • Work closely with the Business Analysts to understand business challenges, issues and opportunities.
  • Work with the Business Analysts to develop data models that will answer complex questions that will move the business forward toward primary objectives.
  • Translate requirements defined by the Business Analysts into high-quality technical solutions, culminating in usable data assets that can be leveraged by our business partners.
  • Assist in the QA Life Cycle by partnering with Business Analysts to develop test scripts, coordinate UAT resources, and document test results.
  • Develop proof of concept dashboards in the Tableau framework that help the business understand the value of data assets that have been developed.
  • Build out online wiki repository using Atlassian Confluence for BI team documentation

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Sophomore or Junior working towards Bachelor’s degree in Business Information & Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or equivalent in related job experience.
  • Possess proficient process and technical ETL or SQL development skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills; both written and oral.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server stack including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
  • Basic query and data analysis skills.
  • Exposure to Tableau and Alteryx software applications.
  • Experience in a ski resort, hospitality, or customer service field.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies, including waterfall and agile.
