Job Summary:

We are seeking a Backend Developer who is a motivated self-starter and passionate about building scalable, high-performance applications. This role is part of the Digital Team at Vail Resorts, supporting our web and mobile products and services.

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, communicates effectively, and demonstrates technical curiosity with a willingness to learn beyond their core expertise. You will leverage modern technologies such as Microsoft .NET, C#, RESTful APIs, Microservices, Containers, Azure, and CMS integrations (Sitecore and Contentstack) to deliver efficient and scalable functionality for our digital ecosystem.

This position reports to the Senior Development Manager within the Marketing Technology IT team.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $88,868.83 - 108,000.00

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strong experience with ASP.NET MVC for building scalable, maintainable web applications.
  • Proficiency in ASP.NET Core for creating high-performance backend services.
  • Knowledge of Razor Views, Dependency Injection, and best practices for web application architecture.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, including services such as:
    • Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, and Azure Service Bus.
  • Expertise in designing and developing microservices-based applications that are scalable, resilient, and easy to maintain.
  • Strong proficiency in .NET Core and .NET 5/6/7+ for modern backend development.
  • In-depth knowledge of C# for writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Experience integrating Content Management Systems (Sitecore and Contentstack) for dynamic content delivery.
  • 3+ years of full-stack web development experience, including backend and frontend technologies.
  • JavaScript proficiency and experience with React.js (Next.js experience is a strong plus).
  • Maintain and implement new features for 42+ e-commerce websites using C#, React.js, and Sitecore CMS, integrating multiple internal systems and third-party APIs.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance applications supporting our digital portfolio, including:
    • RESTful services running in Docker containers
    • Azure Functions
    • MuleSoft integrations
    • Headless CMS (Contentstack)
  • Monitor, support, and troubleshoot Priority 1 issues for resort websites and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure accurate requirements, estimates, and timely delivery.
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and coverage.
  • Create and maintain documentation for code and processes.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, performance standards, and OWASP Top 10 secure coding practices.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex software issues quickly with scalable solutions.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, planning, grooming, demos, retrospectives).
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve development standards, performance, and functionality within the Vail Resorts technology ecosystem.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Experience collaborating with product owners, designers, and analysts to deliver pixel-perfect components and layouts.
  • Knowledge of PCI compliance and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and automated build/deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with React Native for mobile development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $88,868.83 - 108,000.00. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
