Job Summary:

The Regional Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading Environmental, Operational, and Corporate Compliance efforts for the Vail Resorts Colorado operations. This role will work with leadership and employees across regional business units to advance the compliance programs within the Colorado region. Responsibilities include management of compliance programs including environmental compliance (air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality, drinking water, and dam management), and operational compliance monitoring and auditing activities. The Regional Compliance Manager is also expected to represent Vail Resorts and our Colorado resorts in environmental compliance matters with local communities and public agencies.

 

This role requires candidates to be based in Colorado and willing to travel on-site to Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Crested Butte on a consistent basis.

  • Expected Pay Range: $66,100 - $82,345 + annual bonus
  • Other Specifics: Based in Colorado. Required to travel on-site to Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Crested Butte. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement environmental compliance program across Colorado region. 
  • Responsible for oversight of environmental compliance program for mountain, hospitality, and retail operations. This includes the implementation of enterprise-wide air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality, drinking water, and dam management programs, training operations groups, and performing inspections and audits. 
  • Act as subject matter expert for one to two compliance areas of the environmental compliance program.
  • Review and analyze environmental compliance documentation issued by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and determine impact on resort operations.
  • Liaise with Environmental Compliance leadership to publish compliance strategies, requirements, process controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish/negotiate permit requirements and assist in federal, state and local regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Manage regulations, permits, conditions, and compliance tasks in Vail Resorts compliance management systems.
  • Manage inspections, audits, recordkeeping, and reporting in Vail Resorts compliance management systems.
  • Project manage regional environmental concerns as they arise.
  • Support the broader enterprise compliance team and programs including local implementation of culture and training initiatives, policy management program, and operational compliance monitoring and auditing projects.
  • Liaise with local leadership, mountain, hospitality, and retail operations, and health & safety teams to monitor compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including; H&S, Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and government agencies as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory environments within region and evaluate potential impact/risk to regional and/or enterprise operations.
  • Conduct site visits at each Colorado resort to perform inspections, audits, and training.
  • Partner with enterprise functions to develop and present capital and operational initiatives to senior resort and regional leadership.
  • Be a change champion for Ethics and our Do Right value and all associated programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Environmental Management; Environmental, Health and Safety, Risk Management, Planning, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects in fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Experience with Title V air permits, air permit compliance associated with emergency engines – preferred
  • Self-starter; demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent learning agility and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and evolving team dynamic
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage upwards
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving issues independently – solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement
  • Ability to work with Sr. Level management and executives
  • Competent ski and/or snowboard abilities – required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to travel required
  • Hands-on, technical experience with environmental programs and policies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically SharePoint/MS Teams
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Smartsheets, or other database management software

 

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $66,100 - $82,345 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
