Job Summary

The Snowmaking Assistant Manager will work in close coordination with the Snowmaking Manager to provide leadership support to all aspects of the Snowmaking department with a focus on infrastructure maintenance, team building and training, and oversight of daily operations. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Snowmaking Manager and Mountain Operations leadership as required by providing direction, leadership, and expertise in all areas of the Breckenridge Snowmaking Department. Must be proactive and look for improvements in all aspects of the operation on a consistent basis. 
  • Collaborate with the Snowmaking Manager to hire, train, schedule, supervise, and manage the performance and safety of a team of approximately 35 employees.
  • Assist with the development and execution of the snowmaking and trail development plan.
  • Collaborate with the Snowmaking Manager to ensure compliance with all mandated company and department policies and procedures including safety guidelines. Understand VRI Company policies with regard to property loss, Workers Compensation, and VRI equipment operation. 
  • Partner with department leadership to develop and execute on a comprehensive infrastructure maintenance plan. 
  • Provide field oversight of summer field work and excavation projects. 
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project completion (ex – Grooming and Trails departments, US Forest Service, CO 811, etc.)  

 

Job Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma (bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred)
  • Previous Snowmaking or related Mountain Operations experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisor experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Office and VR internal systems
  • Fluent in English

Preferred:

  • Previous electrical or mechanical experience
  • Previous pipeline installation or maintenance experience
  • Previous snowmobile and snow cat operation experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Advanced skier/snowboarder
  • Ability to withstand inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work and supervise shifts at all hours of the day/night as needed
  • Able to lift and carry 75 lbs in a rugged alpine environment

 

The expected pay range is $56,485.00 - $74,518.63. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
