As the Senior Manager of the Lift Electrical Department you will be tasked with supervising all team members to create an energetic, positive and productive work environment. By taking a hands on approach to the job you will ensure that all electrical maintenance and day to day activity supports safety & operational requirements, and that developmental practices fall within established budgets and timelines. This will allow you to leverage others in the department to meet and exceed corporate goals in order to help ensure the future success and growth of our company, and of our industry as a whole. 


Primary Job Duties:

  • Accomplishes electrical maintenance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves electrical maintenance operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans, capitol projects and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing maintenance, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Meets electrical maintenance financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.


Additional job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage supplies inventory to determine inventory levels & anticipated needs; placing and expediting orders for electrical material to prevent downtime; reviewing and approving invoices.
  • Develop electrical maintenance routines, policies and procedures.
  • Assists Director to maintain budget.
  • Ensures compliance, documentation, and record keeping per OSHA, ANSI and CPTSB regulatory agencies.
  • Keeps equipment operating in a safe manner; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Responsible for adherence to Vail Resorts and Lift Maintenance Departmental policies.
  • Prioritizes work place and passenger safety at all times.
  • Works with Mechanical Manager in developing crew schedules and departmental comradery.
  • Oversees the AC (480 to 120) needs of all lift equipment including lift shack enclosures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Lift Director



  • Management skills: Electronics troubleshooting, staffing, communication, technical leadership, technical understanding, developing budgets, equipment maintenance, safety management, attention to detail, conceptual skills, supply management.
  • Flexible schedule and able to work a five-day work week (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Familiar with personal computers, motor control systems, drives, PLC's and industrial control systems.
  • Minimum five years of experience with industrial controls and related systems.
  • Minimum two years of technical leadership experience in a team environment.
  • General knowledge of the ski industry and lift operations preferred.
  • High school education required, some college preferred.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license.
  • English required.
  • Intermediate level skier preferred
