Job Summary:
The Night Auditor is responsible for delivering outstanding guest service while ensuring the smooth overnight operation of the hotel. This position balances front desk responsibilities, overnight accounting, property security, and operational support. The Night Auditor serves as the overnight liaison between departments, completes all nightly audit procedures, prepares the property for the following business day, and provides valet services and transportation assistance as needed. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional guest service through in-person interactions, telephone communication, and email correspondence.
- Welcome arriving guests, complete check-in and check-out procedures, and provide information about the hotel, local attractions, dining options, and resort amenities.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, service recovery opportunities, billing questions, and emergency situations while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe front desk and lobby environment, restocking supplies as necessary.
- Serve as the overnight communication hub between Front Desk, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
- Accurately complete all nightly audit procedures, including balancing room revenue, guest charges, cash drawers, and credit card transactions.
- Review and complete the Night Audit checklist while preparing and distributing required daily operational and financial reports.
- Verify guest registration information, ensure registration cards are complete, confirm payment methods, and perform bucket checks each shift.
- Monitor room inventory, room assignments, bedding configurations, and arrivals to optimize guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Respond to reservation inquiries and assist with room blocking and inventory management for upcoming arrivals.
- Maintain accurate logs of guest requests, maintenance issues, and operational concerns using company software systems.
- Communicate effectively with all hotel departments and participate in company communication platforms including Slack and other operational systems.
- Provide valet parking services by safely parking and retrieving guest vehicles while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and vehicle care.
- Transport guest vehicles between designated parking areas when operationally necessary and assist guests with luggage and other arrival or departure needs.
- Deliver guest amenities and assist with light operational support for Engineering or Housekeeping during overnight hours as needed.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous front desk, hotel operations, hospitality, or accounting experience preferred.
- Previous Night Audit experience preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment during overnight shifts.
- Experience with hotel property management systems preferred. Familiarity with Mews, Toast, Stripe, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Alice, or similar hospitality software is a plus.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Fluent in English.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company insurance standards.
- Must be comfortable driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles, or be willing to become proficient if required.
- Must be able to safely operate guest vehicles as part of daily valet responsibilities.
- Must be available to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout an overnight shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, point-of-sale systems, and hotel software.
- Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate a variety of guest vehicles.
The expected pay range is $20.00/hr - $23.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
