As the Director of Engineering of the DoubleTreeby Hilton Breckenridge, you would be responsible for managing the Engineering operations in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service, exceptional standards of life & safety and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?

  • Work with the Executive Committee and General Manager to maximize productivity and quality standards while minimizing expenses.
  • Budget, forecast and support fiscal responsibility within the operations of the department.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally to provide direction to staff.
  • Handling any guest comments or claims providing exceptional service and resolution.
  • Observe team members, celebrate exceptional service and encourage improvement where needed.
  • Interview, select, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, and administer progressive disciplinary procedures for Engineering team members when needed.
  • Conduct room inspections weekly to ensure that Preventative Measure standards are being met.
  • Manage the maintenance and sanitation of all Engineering areas to ensure a safe work environment, compliance with applicable regulations and protection of the physical asset
  • Perform tasks of employees supervised to facilitate service and for training purposes
  • Monitors guest service scores via reports and guest comments for maintenance and Digital Key, addresses any issues immediately and implements programs that meet or exceed brand benchmarks
  • Ensure that all engineering associates have been thoroughly trained and are consistently following service standards and procedures.
  • Focus on providing world-class service for every guest at every opportunity.
  • Train, mentor and nurture your associates to remember the guests needs come first.
  • Be aware of VIP guests and communicate this to staff
  • Works closely with all departments to ensure that maintenance and repairs involving guest rooms and public areas are completed timely and with minimal detraction to other operations.
  • Conducts and maintains inventory of supplies needed to support hotel operations and place inventory orders when required.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, plans, and conclusions
  • Proactively follow specific departmental procedures in performing repair, maintenance, alteration, and installation work in a safe and neat manner
  • Comply with the latest insurance, local county, state and federal government codes, laws, and requirements
  • Determine defects, troubleshoot malfunctions, take necessary corrective action, and record same following specific departmental procedures
  • Function as a member of the emergency organization team and become an expert on life safety system
  • Be aware of fire, safety, and protection equipment/hazards
  • Maintain tracking data check sheet and logs
  • Plan and schedule corrective maintenance and project work
  • Ensure work assignments are completed with no rework and with little to no supervision
  • Act as a technical liaison to all other departments
  • Ensure service requests are followed up on and completed
  • Review and evaluate utility reports with input on energy conservation
  • Monitor and perform test systems as necessary, be fully informed of the system operation and handle emergencies involving the systems
  • Have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems
  • Observe energy and utilities usage
  • Be available for emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
  • Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status following emergencies
  • Read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units
  • Conduct all Hilton and Vail Resorts training to provide tools for the teams to be safe on the job and in compliance with standards.
  • Successfully complete other duties as assigned.




  • College degree in business, hospitality - Required
  • Minimum two years in hotel Engineering options, or related industry - required
  • Minimum of one year in a Management role in hospitality or related role - required
  • Intermediate Excel – required
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Detail-oriented on assigned tasks and the ability to follow through to a conclusion
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and drive production through completion
  • Ability to work successfully in a strong team environment
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly - required

The expected pay range is $82,800 - $106,425 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
