Job Summary:

The Snowmaking Assistant Manager oversees departmental oversight, budget, training, and staffing. Acting manager when the Manager is on days off or vacation. Supervises direct reports (year-round staff 2 supervisors, 2 maintenance techs, and 4 Team Leads), performance management and evaluations, hiring and staffing, scheduling, and policy and procedure adherence, directly or with the assistance of supervisor and team leads.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist department management with the hiring, onboarding, and management of all snowmaking staff.  Responsibilities include employee communication, onboarding compliance, all training documentation, payroll, end-of-season processes, coaching, and discipline.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of all department manuals. 
  • Manage the annual hiring, scheduling, and organization of training for all new and returning snowmakers. 
  • Maintain inventory and maintenance records for all snowmaking equipment, machines, and resources.
  • Support the Maintenance Techs with Reservoir documentation and annual compliance responsibilities. 
  • Annually update all SDS records and ensure fire and life safety compliance in all snowmaking buildings. 
  • Oversee the employee uniform and equipment programs.
  • Assist department management with EES and EE recognition programs. 
  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships with other BC Mountain/Resort departments, including Grooming, Race, Vehicle Maintenance, and HR. 
  • Support the department managers and supervisors with other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a snowmaker or snowmaking controller and knowledge of BC Mountain preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Must have advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Google apps)
  • Speaks fluent English
  • Excellent communication skills.  Must be able to communicate verbal directions over the radio. Ability to work long hours including overnight shifts and weekends.
  • Expert level skier/snowboarder previous experience with payroll, Coupa and Direct Connect

 

The expected pay range is $56,485 - $70,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
