Job Summary:

The Cooking Team Lead leads a kitchen crew that produces quality food and beverages in full-service dining, cafeteria style, and special events. They influence the overall operation through their passion, pride, leadership, and organizational skills. They work toward the overall goal of providing a culinary Experience of a Lifetime for Afton Alps Guests while still reaching profit margins.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•            Execute daily operations by opening and/or closing food & beverage outlets, including filling front-line employee positions as necessary, especially during non-peak periods.

•            Assist the Kitchen Manager in maintain food cost to budget through proper purchasing, menu item pricing, and inventory practices.

•            Direct staff in meeting quality standards for food handling and preparation, safety and sanitation.

•            Conduct and process accurate inventories of food, beverage, and smallwares at regular intervals as defined by the Kitchen Manager and Vail Resorts.

•            Responsible for training, scheduling, reviewing and disciplinary action for kitchen employees.

•            Responsible for ensuring all F&B equipment is maintained and in proper working condition.

•            Plan and execute F&B for special events including weddings, banquets, and corporate meetings.

•            Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to staff and guests. Respond and engage with customer suggestions, complaints, and recognition.

•            Adhere to all policies, rules, regulations in both food service and alcohol management.

•            Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of Vail Resorts and Afton Alps.

•            Create and maintain a productive and safe work environment, including implementing and retaining all company mandated safety-related training and assessments.

•            Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

•            3 years F&B experience with at least 2 years cooking experience – Required

•            At least 2 years of supervisory experience

•            Strong ability to train employees to set service standards.

•            Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.

•            Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required.

•            MS office and POS (IG) proficiency – Preferred

•            Certified in TIPS and enforcement of Bartender's Code of Conduct – Preferred

•            Possess strong liquor and beer knowledge for training ability – Preferred

•            Certified Slip Resistant shoes are required prior to starting work. Shoes must be provided by the employee.

•            Strong communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form including communicating on the mountain radio.

•            Working knowledge of kitchen areas and work with chefs/culinary programs to establish and maintain sanitization and food quality standards.

•            High level of interpersonal skills to ensure: teamwork, high level guest contact, fact finding for appropriate decision making, commitment to guest service and employee relations.

•            Must demonstrate ability to receive and give direction and act upon it.

The budgeted range starts at $23.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
