The Vehicle Maintenance position at Afton Alps is responsible for maintaining and repairing all vehicle and operating systems in a safe and efficient working order according to Vail Resorts and Afton Alps operating standards. Afton Alps contributes, promotes and demonstrates Vail Resorts’ mission “Experience of a Lifetime” for all of our guests and our team as our daily goal. This position is full-time, year round.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides mechanical diagnosis & repairs including but not limited to diesel & gas engines, electrical systems, hydraulic, tune ups, and brakes
  • Performs diagnosis & repairs on snowmobiles, ATV/UTVs, Snowcats, various work vehicles and other heavy equipment as needed
  • Communicate with department heads and employees regarding equipment problems and repairs
  • Small engine diagnosis, repairs, & maintenance
  • Large engine diagnosis, repairs, & maintenance
  • Diesel engine diagnosis, repairs, & maintenance
  • Train/teach employees when applicable
  • Repair and maintenance of diesel and gas engines
  • Electrical and electronic diagnosis
  • Assists in all other shop duties as assigned by management.
  • Performs all routine and assigned maintenance procedures under the guidance of the mountain manager
  • Maintain shop facilities and operating systems in a safe and efficient working order
  • Perform maintenance and repairs indoors and outdoors on multiple types of equipment
  • Perform unexpected, routine, & scheduled maintenance of company equipment
  • Maintain tools and work area in safe, secure, and efficient manner
  • Work with other departments when directed under the guidance of the Mountain Operations Manager

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive, truck, bus, heavy equipment, or fleet diagnostics and repair
  • Training and certifications considered in place of years of experience
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision
  • Must have a complete set of SAE and Metric hand tools for required skills
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to meet physical demands of the position such as standing outside in inclement weather for long periods of time & lifting at least 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work in all positions: including on knees, crawling, overhead and frequently moving heavy objects in awkward positions
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication procedures is preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must have flexible schedule including holidays, nights, and weekends


The budgeted range starts at $27 - $33.62.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
