The ARC (Alpine Race Club) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of the season long Afton Race Club, including the overall quality of the guest and employee experience. This individual is responsible for managing program issues relating to instructor scheduling, parental feedback, and system efficiency. They oversee daily and weekly program assignments and lineup, and ensure the program is meeting its safety, revenue, and coaching metrics. This position works closely with the Ski and Snowboard School Manager, other Ski and Snowboard School supervisors, and administrative personnel. They ensure all payroll, workers compensation, incident reports, staffing levels, safety procedures, disciplinary procedures, hiring and separating procedures, and all other administrative functions are managed efficiently and timely. 

 

Winter responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Schedule and manage instructor resources to ensure optimum utilization and effectiveness from both the guest and employee perspectives.
  • Work with the Ski and Snowboard School Manager to support and achieve quality targets for the success of the overall Ski and Snowboard School.
  • Implement and hold staff accountable to Vail and Afton Alps policies and procedures.
  • Coach and counsel instructors, complete performance appraisals, and oversee maintenance of base areas and on hill facilities.
  • Drive a culture of safety by maintaining the highest level of employee and guest safety standards within the department and resort.
  • Ensure instructors are knowledgeable about product lines, company policies and procedures, and work schedules.
  • Work with Ski and Snowboard School Manager to set and review seasonal goals and performance objectives with each instructor and provide feedback.
  • Provide timely program related updates to the ski school leadership team.
  • Understand ski racing fundamentals, including gate setting, course selection, and timing.
  • Communicate with other departments to create an environment of support and trust that will benefit staff and guests.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the Afton Race Club race event weekends.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance of day to day supplies and program tools for inside and outside set up.
  • Adhere to and model Vail Resorts’ mission, vision and values.
  • Attend ARC and Tuesday Night Gate Training Practices
  • Ensure up to date contact information for all participants
  • Weekly communication with participants to drive continuous improvement

 

Requirements:

  • College degree (preferred)
  • PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification or USSA equivalent (preferred)
  • Children Specialist 1 certification or USSA equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience as an Ski & Snowboard School Instructor or race coach
  • Supervisory experience
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays
  • Basic Knowledge of internal company systems
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a winter environment
  • Must have excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Must work well in a team.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English

The budgeted range starts at $25 - $35.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
