Responsible for 2 retail stores, the Store Manager will split their time between the Whistler Clearance Centre located in the middle of Whistler Village and the Blackcomb Clearance Centre located in Upper Village. These stores stock branded items from all over our Retail network once they have been discontinued or are out of season. These items will vary from generic clothing through to everyday essentials needed to Ski, Snowboard or Bike your way down the mountains - all at heavily discounted prices. We'll be looking for a Store Manager who is passionate about these activities, has a good technical understanding of the products and brands on sale throughout the Stores and is able to train up and lead a team of Sales Associates.

Duties:

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations with a focus on ensuring every guest has the experience of a lifetime.
  • Train staff to excel at delivering the ‘GUIDE’ sales and service philosophy.  This is a sales environment and add-on and upselling are expected from all retail staff.
  • Ensure that every guest issue or concern is owned and follow-up by you or a member of your team.
  • Hiring, onboarding and training new staff.
  • Building a weekly store schedule within budget guidelines that reflects upcoming business trends.
  • Responsible for staff adherence to policies, procedures and expectations. Executing performance management when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, ongoing training and product knowledge sessions.
  • Provide seasonal goals and daily targets for all staff. Be proactive in coaching bottom performers.
  • Recognize your team and top performers regularly throughout the season.  Responsible for planning and attending staff recognition events.
  • Perform scheduled staff performance reviews.
  • Actively create and promote a fun work environment.
  • Maintain store standards and visual merchandising.
  • Work with the store buyer by providing regular feedback on the store assortment and opportunities.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of in-store grassroots activations.
  • Accountable for all security issues involving cash, theft, liability and premises.
  • Ensure that all inventory maintenance procedures are followed in order to maintain store inventory integrity and achieve a year end shrink target.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability for BU expense costs.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance in all risk management related areas, including guest and employee safety.
  • Scheduled to work on the floor for regular shifts every week (reg. min 32hrs a week).
  • Operate a computer P.O.S. system and all related procedures.
  • Ensuring that all pertinent reports are completed and communicated to your leadership team and Area Manager in a timely manner.
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist other departments as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate our core values: do good, drive value, be safe, serve others, do right, and have fun.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in sports apparel retail.
  • Store leadership and supervisory experience an asset.
  • A strong knowledge of outdoor sports and recreation industries.
  • Experience balancing a store schedule and working with a fixed budget.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and administration abilities.
  • Self-motivated, guest oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • Positive, energetic attitude towards guests and peers.
  • Required to complete a satisfactory criminal record check.
