Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Building Maintenance reports to the Director Base Experience and is responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and stewardship of Resort buildings, the Sign Shop, Operations Warehouse/Parts, and the Operations Distribution Center. This role focuses on safety, asset protection, infrastructure reliability, and guest experience, while supporting leased and owned properties, capital planning, and key infrastructure systems.
Success in this role requires strong business acumen, strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and proven leadership skills.
 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $117,540 - $140,000 + Annual bonus 

  • Employment Type: Year Round  

  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available

Job Resposibilites:
  • Oversee all building, infrastructure, and asset maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operations.
  • Partner with the Leasing team to coordinate repairs/maintenance on leased properties and track/recommend capital replacements and improvements.
  • Liaise with strata councils to ensure Whistler Blackcomb’s interests are represented for owned and leased properties.
  • Represent Whistler Blackcomb as the Lot 5 owner responsible for Whistler Creek flood protection works.
  • Oversee potable water, sewer, gas, and related infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance, reliability, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage the Operations Distribution Center supporting inventory and materials for Operations maintenance teams.
  • Participate on the working group implementing MaintainX for Building Maintenance and support system adoption and process improvements.
  • Manage capital projects and programs, including re-imagine initiatives and facility upgrades.
  • Effectively manage financial performance (budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, scheduling, payroll, and P&L oversight).
  • Build and lead a high-performing team: hiring, training, coaching, career development, and performance management.
  • Foster strong cross-functional partnerships and manage relationships with external vendors.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, guests, and partners including radio communication on-mountain when required.
  • Ensure adherence to Vail Resorts and Whistler Blackcomb policies and maintain a safe, productive work environment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (provincial/municipal/federal) and maintain current licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Maintain resort life safety systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, and related systems).

  • Conduct regular team meetings, set goals, monitor progress, and support leadership development.

Job Requriments:
  • 10+ years of facility management experience, including 5+ years in a management role.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and radio formats.
  • High level of interpersonal skills supporting teamwork, guest service, decision-making, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive and provide constructive feedback and act on it.
  • Experience managing direct reports with a focus on leadership and career development.
  • Experience building and maintaining cross-functional relationships.
  • Experience managing external vendors.
  • Ability to manage large capital projects and multi-year programs.
  • Knowledge of contracts and agreements, Rights-of-Way, and the ability to read maps and building plans.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and prioritize resources.
  • Strong commitment to safety, service standards, and operational excellence.
  • Friendly, professional, and guest-focused demeanor.
  • Flexible schedule; must be able to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as required Required.
  • MS Office Proficiency Required.
  • Passion for the snowsports industry Preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively inoral and written form including communicating on the mountain radio
