Job Summary:

The Roundhouse Chef is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations of Whistler Blackcomb’s largest restaurant comprising of three quick service food courts, two coffee bars, and two full service bars with approximately 2000 seats. The Roundhouse Chef leads a team of Sous Chefs, Supervisors and up to 80 hourly staff.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the Experience of a Lifetime to our guests and employees
  • Work closely with Vail Resorts F&B ‘Center of Expertise’ (COE) to deliver on menu implementation and execution including recipes, station guides and portion control
  • Leadership of the Roundhouse Culinary Team, including onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, one on ones, conducting employee reviews, development and succession planning
  • Leads a culture of safety, and ensures all safety training is delivered, completed and tracked for all team members
  • Accountable for maintaining high cleaning standards and compliance to all Food Safe regulations
  • Maximizes profitability and is fluent in cost of sales and labour management and reporting
  • Leads employee engagement by promoting a fair, harmonious work environment, providing employees with the tools to do their jobs and delivers timely and specific recognition programs
  • Deliver and lead a culture of epic guest service, resolves guest issues or complaints and is accountable for Guest Experience (GX) scores
  • Oversees warehouse and shipping/receiving team members
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all employees and internal stakeholders and communicates relevant information as necessary
  • Plans and executes internal programs including Fresh Tracks and the Mountaintop Summer Feast
  • Administrative duties as needed, including ordering, inventory, scheduling, processing transfers and waste
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist in other areas as needed


Job Qualifications:

  • 5 years culinary management or supervisory experience in a high volume Food & Beverage environment
  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, guest service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong administrative skills
  • BC Driver’s license an asset
  • Ability of ski or snowboard at an intermediate level is required
