Job Summary: 
As a Grooming Team Lead, you will be part of a proud and respected team responsible for producing high-quality grooming acreage at Whistler Blackcomb. Leading your team will be part of a broader effort to ensure the final product each morning, preparing the mountains to open on time and safely for all guests. This role involves on-hill staff supervision, quality control of grooming, and monitoring and safeguarding Whistler Blackcomb’s equipment and infrastructure. The successful candidate will strive to achieve or exceed personal and departmental goals, including safety, guest experience, training, recognition, performance reviews, and damage control. Lead by example with an excellent work ethic and a positive attitude to inspire your team.

 

Job specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $23.75/hr - $33.13/hr

Job Responsibilities:

  • Continually strive to exceed our guests’ expectations by providing the finest mountain recreation experience through top-quality grooming in North America.
  • Provide leadership, promote team spirit, and foster a cooperative work environment, maintaining friendly and professional relationships with guests, colleagues, and other departments.
  • Demonstrate initiative in handling routine matters proactively.
  • Exercise calm and thoughtful judgment in emergency situations.
  • Prioritize safety: remain vigilant and correct any unusual or unsafe situations anywhere on Whistler/Blackcomb, whether on duty or off.
  • Ensure proper and complete documentation of grooming maps, shift reports, pre-trip cat log sheets, post-trip work orders, and timesheets for all team members.
  • Assist with departmental human resources management, including reinforcing the Grooming Code of Conduct.
  • Support hiring, ongoing coaching, disciplinary actions, performance reviews via Gensuite (formerly Enabelon or THIMOC), and employee engagement surveys such as Glint.
  • Collaborate with grooming and snowmaking leadership to plan and coordinate slope preparation and related work assignments efficiently.
  • Actively supervise grooming quality and provide constructive feedback to staff.
  • Ensure proper training on all equipment, safety procedures, and operating protocols.
  • Monitor weather conditions and develop strategies to maintain grooming quality and departmental operations.
  • Assume responsibility for the Grooming Team and mountain operations during non-operational hours, providing leadership as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments and management across both mountains.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in grooming.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • BC Driver's License and Drivers Abstract mandatory.
  • Must possess strong mechanical ability and capable of troubleshooting equipment.
  • Must be well groomed, in good physical condition, mature, energetic and dependable.
  • Minimum computer skills required for email communication and report filing.
  • Early seasons start up experience an asset
  • Previous leadership experiences an asset
  • Previous training experience is an asset
