Job Summary:  

As an Event Host, you’ll be part of a team focused on the daily tasks involved in the operations of our on-mountain athletic events from the set up of the site, through the execution of the event to tear down and clean up once the event is over.  You will gain valuable work experience and learn efficient work practices which will be transferable to many future employment opportunities.

  • Skill Level: Advanced Skiing/Boarding

 

Job Responsiblities:

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations and to create memories for guests and staff as the best mountain experience again and again.
  • Expected to be up to date with all event information and act as Whistler / Blackcomb Ambassador at all times on and off the job.
  • Will be required to be an example for and assist in continuous training and guidance of volunteer crew.
  • Event venue construction - Includes building scaffolding, installing fence, tents, banners, cabling, etc.
  • Continuous attention to details involving event safety including the ongoing maintenance of event venues as required
  • Will be assigned specific responsibilities during the set up/strike of event equipment while leading volunteers to assist with the same.
  • Required to assume different positions during events - assistant timer, starter, Chief of Gates, finish referee
  • Responsible use and proper daily storage of timing equipment, fencing, banners, shovels, and other event materials.
  • Expected to report damages to any event equipment or repairs required to Supervisor or Lead Hand immediately, taking appropriate steps to correct problem at the time.
  • Maintain cleanliness of and safe access to our different equipment storage areas located either in the valley or on the mountain.
  • Assisting in the transportation of event equipment – either by hand or by loading transportation vehicles/systems.
  • Will be required to learn functional job skills in at least one different area within the department.
  • Responsible for mountain radio and drill/batteries/drill bit, issued at the start of the season.
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist in other departments as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Resume is required
  • Must have outgoing, friendly personality and show commitment to exceeding guests expectations at all times.
  • Must be a hardworking, team player
  • Able to work for extended hours outside in an alpine mountain environment with variable weather conditions including snow, wind, cold, and sun for 8+ hours/day
  • Able to work holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs while skiing competently on difficult terrain..
  • Ability to work with power tools (cordless drills, saws, etc.)
  • Computer experience an asset - an aptitude for numbers preferred.
  • Level I race officials certification an asset.
  • Any other event experiences an asset
  • Proof of clear criminal record check
