Job Summary:

Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Head Chefs are no exception to this experience of a lifetime. The Chef oversees the kitchen team and is responsible to ensure smooth operations, promoting teamwork amongst staff, and maintaining food quality and safety to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $60,000 - $75,000 + annual Bonus 
  • Employment Type: Year Round

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a culture of safety, epic guest service and employee engagement
  • Leads a culture of safety, and ensures all safety training is delivered, completed and tracked for all team members
  • Leads employee engagement by promoting a fair, harmonious work environment, providing employees with the tools to do their jobs and delivers timely and specific recognition programs
  • Work closely with Vail Resorts F&B ‘Center of Expertise’ (COE) to deliver on menu implementation and execution including recipes, station guides and portion control
  • Leadership of our Culinary Team, including onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, conducting employee reviews, development and succession planning
  • Maximizes profitability
  • Supports or oversees warehouse and shipping/receiving team members
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all employees and internal stakeholders and communicates relevant information as necessary
  • Accountable for maintaining high cleaning standards and compliance to all Food Safe regulations
  • Administrative duties as needed, including ordering, inventory, scheduling, processing transfers and waste
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist in other areas as needed

Job Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelors or Culinary degree preferred
  • ServSafe certification or regional equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of restaurant experience, 1+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Must be able to Ski/Snowboard
  • Must be highly flexible with work schedule
  • Basic knife skills
  • Experience with various kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, grills, fryers, ovens, etc.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly during a shift
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
