Job Summary:

The Catering Captain assists the Catering Manager and Assistant Manager in leading the catering team

through set-up, service and tear down of all group events at Whistler Blackcomb Food & Beverage



Job Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the Experience of a Lifetime our guests, clients and employees
  • Responsible for executing banquets of 20 – 1000 guests at Whistler Blackcomb F&B venues including the Roundhouse Lodge, Rendezvous, Dusty’s, GLC and Merlin’s
  • Responsible for leading a team through buffet set-up and service, table setting, wine and drink service, plated dinner service, cocktail reception set-up and service, bartending, bussing and stewarding
  • Running events of 20 – 100 guests on own, complete from start to finish
  • Liaising with clients to ensure event is executed to plan
  • Being knowledgeable about all event details from briefing, such as itinerary, menu and drink service
  • Delivering epic service to our guests and maintaining a high level of presentation
  • Resolving any guest problems effectively and professionally
  • Responsible for proper care and storage of catering equipment including organization and cleanliness of catering storage room and arranging/packing of shipments of equipment to various venues
  • Ensure all liquor and health and safety regulations are adhered to
  • Assist with ordering product and inventory
  • General cleaning duties
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist in other areas as needed


Job Qualifications:

  • 2 years serving, bartending or banquet service is required
  • Must be highly flexible with work schedule
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work without supervision
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly during a shift
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Intermediate level skier or snowboarder is preferred
  • 19 years of age and a BC Serving it Right Certificate
  • Uniform and footwear are not provided, employee dress code must be followed
