Job Summary:

Primary responsibilities include ensuring the physical premises and plants at all LO locations are maintained to standards enhancing owner, guest and employee experience. The main focus of this individual will be to support the Chief Engineer and the Operations teams/managers by providing guidance in hiring of Maintenance staff, troubleshooting and performance checks. Other responsibilities to include essentially aligning completely with the Chief Engineer towards maintaining Vail Resorts Engineering/Maintenance standards (incl. Safety & Sustainability Standards); developing and maintaining manuals; negotiating contracts; conducting inspections; training and guiding onsite Maintenance staff; managing contractors and technical consultants; administering the operating and capital budget programs; overseeing capital work; supporting the development process by assisting in building system selection and material selection to provide properties that are cost effective, maintainable, extend the useable life of the facility while maintaining the design philosophy.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Embraces Vail Resorts/Lodging Ovations’ Leadership Best Practices, Mission, Vision, and EPIC Service standards.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment by conducting inspections on a regular basis to determine need and extent of service, equipment required, type of operation, and team members needed.
  • Work with the team in developing procedures manuals, plant and equipment operating manuals and a record retention program.
  • Help prepare and manage departmental budgets and forecasts, and oversee deptl. schedules.
  • Provide team members with training and guidance to assist in their growth and development.
  • Manage all strata/HOA maintenance obligations and attend strata/HOA meetings as needed.
  • Manage facility retrofit programs and Capital projects. Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to coordinate with internal and external sources to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and with minimal impact to guest and employee experience.
  • Conduct an energy audit of all existing facilities and investigate and implement capital plans and procedures that help reduce operational costs and greenhouse emissions. 
  • Help develop and supervise preventative maintenance, spring cleaning program, and security program that supports each facilities principal of cost, maintainability, longevity and design.
  • Respond to guest concerns and service requests. Schedule and assign associates work orders by priority; delegate duties and supervise work.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety procedures, conduct regular safety and fire orientations and ensure adherence to applicable laws.
  • Maintain a supply inventory necessary for optimal operating efficiency by initiating purchase orders for maintenance supplies, equipment, parts and services required.
  • Regularly liaise with other managers to ensure that expectations of the Resort Managers are being met as it relates to the Maintenance of the Resort property.
  • Support the advancement of Vail Resorts Property Management in Whistler. 
  • Other duties as necessary to ensure Experience of a Lifetime for all VR/LO stakeholders.       

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous building maintenance experience in the hospitality or related industry is essential.
  • Accounting, budgeting and computer experience an asset.
  • Previous experience with strata properties an asset.
  • Previous experience with capital projects an asset.
  • Trades or Engineering related qualification an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Conversant with industry related legislation.
  • Detailed, accurate, organized and disciplined.
  • Knowledge of HR and workplace standards.
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate.
