International Applicants

All applicants for Whistler Blackcomb need to have the legal right to work in Canada before we can extend a job offer.

This means you need to be a Canadian Citizen or the holder of a Canadian Work Permit.

Things to consider:

  • If you have Canadian dual citizenship then you should have the legal right to work in Canada – however, please note that if you haven’t formally applied for your Canadian Citizenship, this can take several months to obtain. We won’t be able to give you a job offer until you have confirmation of your Canadian Citizenship. Please either consult with an immigration lawyer or the Canadian Immigration Website www.cic.gc.ca if you have any queries or questions about this.
  • If you need to apply for a work permit then please also consult with either an immigration lawyer or the Canadian Immigration Website www.cic.gc.ca before applying to a role with us.
  • Typically Whistler Blackcomb will not sponsor work permits, this means that we will not be able to provide you with a job offer prior to you obtaining your work permit.
  • From time to time we are given the opportunity to provide a small number of 12-month work permits for US Citizens moving into Chef or Lead Cook positions, in this instance we would be offering work permits to candidates who are experienced in this field of work. If you see a Chef or Lead Cook position that is of interest to you please explain in your application whether or not you would need support obtaining a Canadian Work Permit.
  • Applying for your Canadian Citizenship or a Canadian Work Permit can take many months – please take this into account when thinking about making a move to Canada, for example, if you want to be here for a winter season you should start thinking about the immigration process maybe 12 months in advance to account for the immigration processing times, potential delays and then organizing accommodation.
