This is a supervisory position for the Vehicle Maintenance Shops with advanced shop experience on a variety of vehicles, both gasoline and diesel powered, with a strong understanding of leading day to day operation of a fleet shop. The primary responsibility is to lead and assist mechanics directly on shop floor to ensure safe and proper diagnosis on all fleet vehicles, while providing training and direction to less experienced staff members. Responsible for maintaining shop/vehicle safety standards and meeting productivity requirements set by management.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide very proficient diagnosis and repair of various pieces of equipment  and  assist shop personnel with professional and timely repairs in an efficient manner to minimize downtime and expenses with the goal of assisting the fleet department in achieving its operating budget
  • Provide daily supervision and oversight of all staff and ongoing projects occurring within the fleet maintenance operation.
  • Prioritize and assign  jobs/tasks based on work load and stakeholder needs to best support those stakeholder groups and maintain productivity on the shop floor
  • Assist the fleet supervisor and manager with job interviews, hiring decisions, develop and conduct performance evaluations for all direct reports, develop and provide training programs for departmental staff.
  • Assist the fleet supervisor and manager with developing the best possible fleet management program to ensure optimal and efficient purchasing plans and rotation of existing equipment in our truck, cat, heavy equipment, and bus fleets.
  • Maintain Safety guidelines and policies with all shop personal set forth by department and Vail Resorts management
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate information to manager and shop personal regarding processes and procedures to include shop safety, prioritizing work and assigned tasks
  • Effectively communicate scheduling and repair status with inter-departmental managers, supervisors and leads
  • Participate in the development of self and co-workers by leading hands on training, and sharing prior work experience to help improve the operations of Fleet Maintenance and advance the skill set of other employees
  • Demonstrate the philosophies outlined in the Vail Resorts Employee Handbook pertaining to Employee, Customer, Guest, Co-workers, and Management relations
  • Assist in the tracking of fleet vehicles for cost analysis, longevity and fleet rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School. Some College and two years automotive school/training.
  • 8-10 years shop experience.
  • 1-3 years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Colorado drivers license, CDL liscense.
  • Advanced vehicle analyzers, on board computer systems, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Oral and written English proficiency.
  • Provide own toolbox with extensive set of hand tools and automotive testing equipment.
  • Advanced automotive job skills and experience, working knowledge of a fleet maintenance operation.

 

The budgeted range starts at 26.40 - 33.10.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
