The 10th, Vail's critically acclaimed on-mountain fine-dining restaurant is looking for a PASTRY CHEF to join our outstanding restaurant staff. The 10th serves an upscale sit-down lunch 3 days per week over weekend days, plus maintains an extensive wedding and event business throughout the summer, from mid-June through mid-September.  Located at the top of Gondola One at Mid-Vail, The 10th is surrounded by beautiful mountain views and wildflower filled meadows.  Guests dine in an elegant upscale dining room or on an expansive deck overlooking the majestic Gore Range.  Modern. Alpine. Inspired.  The 10th redefines classic alpine cuisine and elevates service to new standards in Vail. 

This individual is career oriented, creative, active, and is a culinary leader with strong leadership qualities, who is able to work unsupervised, and manage a kitchen in the Chef's absence. This person is either a graduate of a two year culinary program with two years post graduate quality experience, or has at least five years experience in quality establishments.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise lower level cooks and bakers in regards to food handling including: rotation, sanitation of all storage areas, labeling and dating, and ensure all storage areas are maintained.
  • Apply Vail Mountain Dining standards for speed and quality.
  • Create, design, execute, prepare recipes for pastry and dessert programs at The 10th
  • Prepare daily breads for lunch service – table breads, housebaked burger rolls, focaccia, ciabatta
  • Will be responsible for all pastry operations at The 10th.
  • Supports company philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Prep and work assigned completed quickly and cleanly.
  • Follow prep sheets accurately and with a sense of urgency.
  • Prepare all pastry products to the specifications of the Chef.
  • Read, understand, and follow recipes and standards.
  • Take an active role in the apprentice program and the development of apprentice's skills.
  • Advises higher rated cooks and/or management of anticipated problems.  Assists in the menu development process
  • Assists in the direction and supervision of all culinary staff.  Assists in the creation, usage, and follow through of prep lists, cleaning list, and closing lists.
  • Assists in food ordering.



  • High school diploma or equivalent - required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40+ lbs - required.
  • Must be able to stand for 8+ hours - required.
  • Must be fluent in English - required.
  • 5 years pastry experience in a fast-paced restaurant - required.
  • Previous supervisory experience - required.
  • Team oriented attitude is a must - required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays including: July 4th, Labor Day and other holidays as requested – required.
  • ServeSafe (or be able to attain upon hire) - required
  • In-person or Skype Interview – required
