Supervisor, Lift Maintenance - Full Time, Year Round - Vail Mountain

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist manager in assuring all lifts under your supervision are in compliance with CPTSB, USFS, insurance carriers, and The Vail Corp,  rules and regulations
  • To be the working lead mechanic and manage the mechanics over a group of no more than 7aerial tramways and other surface lifts as assigned.  
  • Assist in the tracking of the maintenance budget for your group of lifts
  • Assist in the ongoing training of maintenance personnel
  • Assist managers in scheduling of personnel
  • Must maintain reasonable levels of spare parts to ensure full repair capability
  • Ensure that the maintenance manager is informed and consulted on all unusual conditions, incidents, observations, or system malfunctions
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the personnel reporting to you are in compliance with all Vail Resorts regulations and policies
  • Responsible for recording all information of  work performed on lifts and submitting to lift records in a timely manner.
  • Respond, as assinged, to lift failures to productively resolve these situations in a timely manner.
  • Keep an up to date failure analysis
  • Assist in the ongoing training and support of seasonal lift operations
  • Must maintain all tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Resposible for all parts ordering
  • Advises and administers the Lift Mechanic/Electrical Apprenticeship


  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Must be a Level III Mechanic or promotable to level III within 12 months.
  • Basic knowledge in desktop computer systems and applications.
  • Read, write, and speak English
  • expert in troubleshooting lift failures
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Basic welding skills
  • Intermediate skier is preferred but not required
