Job Summary:

The Senior Director: General Manager – Vail serves as the General Manager of The Arrabelle and Senior Director of Hospitality Operations for the Lodge at Vail and Ritz-Carlton Residences. This position maintains oversight of the lodging (both owned and operated and managed vacation rental properties), maintenance, spa and Hospitality food and beverage operations across all three properties. Additionally, this position is accountable for the strategic and financial success of the properties, inclusive of the guest, homeowner and employee experience.
 

This is a dynamic role that requires an ambitious and passionate leader with strong business acumen, communication, learning agility, a track record of developing leaders, and a high level of emotional intelligence. The Senior Director: General Manager is a key member of the Hospitality Senior Leadership Team and will report to the Vice President of Hospitality, Summit & Eagle Counties.
 

A successful leader in this role is one who enjoys working through multiple complex issues in parallel, with multiple stakeholder groups, in order to achieve objectives. This role will require a key focus on relationship building and development with internal and external stakeholders in the market. Critical internal stakeholders, other than on-property functions, include revenue management, group sales, conference services, reservations, marketing, finance, owner accounting, procurement, mountain operations, retail/rental operations and other lodging leaders. Critical external stakeholders include individual homeowners, HOA/master association Boards of Directors and other local leaders/community entities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all VRH lodging, property management, spa, and food and beverage operations in the Vail market (The Arrabelle, Lodge at Vail, Ritz Carlton Residences, and any future properties that may come under Vail Resorts management).
  • Responsible for all results of the market, including financial, guest service, brand standards/quality control, safety/workers compensation and other measures.
  • Serve as the General Manager of The Arrabelle with oversight of daily on-site operations.
  • Maintain oversight of and responsibility for major capital projects and renovations.
  • Responsible for the growth of property/rental management services in the Vail market.
  • Develop and maintain executive level relationships with homeowners and HOA presidents and Board of Directors.
  • Work on special projects as requested by the VP.
  • Lead and develop talent to build a high performing team that demonstrates both strong business performance and leadership effectiveness to reach both property, division and enterprise goals.
  • Develop and implement new programs to ensure the highest quality of service to all homeowners, guests, and employees.
  • Work at all levels in the organization to identify innovative ideas and initiatives that will build value for the company.
  • Serve on boards in local community based on needs and requirements.
  • Ensure association agreements, responsibilities, and obligations are being met and adhered to. 
  • Maintain high ethical and moral standards, serving as an example to the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of varied operational leadership experience either in retail/rental, hospitality, or resort operations.
  • 2+ years of General Manager experience required, preferably for an upscale or luxury property, overseeing multiple lines of business or properties.
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English in a professional manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Maintains a professional,cooperative and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to navigate in a matrixed environment. Must be flexible, resourceful, and demonstrate excellent time management skills to balance shifting priorities.

 

The expected pay range is $135,000 - $175,000 + annual bonus + equity. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
