Job Summary:

The Rooms Controller is responsible for blocking all rooms prior to arrival, maintaining and ensuring accurate inventory availability.   Position is responsible for, but not limited to, blocking, inventory maintenance, Front desk liaison, and arrivals preparation. Aide and assist in all day to day tasks within the reservations department.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Shift Type: Full Time, Year Round
  • Expected Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.00 / hour

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Be knowledgeable about the hotel information, local attractions, restaurant and transportation available around the hotel, as well as in house activities, in order to answer inquiries.
  • Be knowledgeable about the hotel layout and services.  Be aware of the hotel’s outlets and departments’ hours of operation.  Be familiar with the location of guests’ rooms as well as their amenities
  • Attain expert knowledge on market codes and corresponding rates, as well as special requests codes. 
  • Demonstrate an excellent ability to manage room inventory to maximize occupancy and room revenue.
  • Attain expert knowledge on all room categories and hotel inventory.
  • Informs the front desk of changing selling strategies throughout their shift and communicate any potential challenges.
  • Participates in daily Stand up meeting with Reservations Manager, and communicates any guest opportunities.
  • Acts as a liaison between other departments and communicates effectively with them.
  • Retains an organized and courteous disposition under pressure and is always focused on the guests’ needs. Is able to organize and administer procedures in case of PMS downtime or system failure.
  • Proficient with MARSHA and Lightspeed systems.
  • Be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure according to business demands.
  • Suite block management and Standard room block management
  • Perform Arrivals and duplicate reservation check
  • Inventory balancing in Marsha and Lightspeed, ensure daily and long term accuracy
  • Assist in communication to Front Desk and hotel on VIP/AMEX/Luminous guest arrivals
  • Process internal reservation requests / crib sheets
  • Room blocker maintenance
  • Handle incoming phone calls / special guest requests regarding individual reservations
  • Process Suite Night Awards on a daily basis
  • Ability to perform all duties and tasks associated with the Reservations Specialist

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly. 
  • Must be able to interact, develop and sustain productive customer and associate relationships; actively seeking information to understand and address audience’s needs.
  • One year customer service.
  • Internet, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word experience.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays

 

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish or other languages.
  • Marriott Front Desk experience.
  • Experience with the following computer systems:  LightSpeed, MARSHA, Outlook or EMPOWER GXP

 

 

The expected pay range is $21.00 - $24.49. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
