Job Summary:

 

A Lead Steward supervises the stewarding team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in kitchen, banquet, and storage areas. They oversee dishwashing operations, manage equipment inventory, and assist with training and scheduling, while maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. 

 

Job Specifications:  

 

  • Starting Wage: $21.00/hr - $24.19/hr
  • Employment Type: Year Round
  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Proper dish washing - wash, rinse, sanitize using dishwashing machine or by hand as required.
  • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately.
  • Set up workstations and occasional light prep work.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents, trash bags, gloves) and bring shortages to attention of the kitchen management.
  • Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues, including water temperatures
  • Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor
  • Cleaning of kitchen equipment including but not limited to stoves, dish machine, sinks, ovens, grills, charbroiler, fry-o’later, refrigerators
  • Disposal of kitchen refuse and boxes, and maintain cleanliness of trash storage areas
  • Managing the stewarding team in order to effectively and efficiently finish projects and daily tasks.
  • Enforcing daily railroad cleaning list with stewarding team.
  • Prepare dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations
  • Sweep and mop floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled
  • Take out the trash and clean/rinse garbage cans
  • Note that this is not an inclusive list and team members are at times asked to assist with other tasks to best serve the business. Other tasks may be assigned by the Executive Chef, Banquet Chef, or Chef de Cuisine. 

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience 
  • Previous supervisory experience is helpful 
  • Able to communicate effectively in English 
  • Culinary degree/certification - preferred 
  • Current certification in state Professional Food Handler Program - Preferred 

 

The expected pay range is $21.00/hr - $24.19/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
