Lead Maintenance Tech - Year Round

This year round position works alongside Activities management to oversee daily activities operations with a focus on guest and employee safety, scheduled/emergency maintenance and activities reliability, and seasonal preparation/tear-down. It is directly responsible for up to 6 seasonal maintenance staff and reports directly to Activities Senior Manager. The Adventure Ridge maintenance team is directly responsible for the climbing wall, bungee trampolines, challenge courses, kid’s zip line, tubing hills (summer/winter), ski bikes (winter only) as well as maintaining the Adventure Ridge grounds (activity closures, signage, paths, etc.).

 

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintaining activities, equipment, tools and work areas to ensure safe and efficient work environment while taking a lead role in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Working with Activities Operations management to lead development and training for activities emergency procedures and rescue scenarios.
  • Supervising maintenance team to ensure daily coverage and that all work is completed to the highest code and standard. Completing performance reviews, handling all disciplinary actions, and holding team accountable.
  • Working with Lift Dispatch to document all repairs, labor hours, and materials accurately on all work orders (scheduled & unscheduled)
  • Maintenance and quality control of equipment and facilities related to activity operations (fencing, PPE, and other guest touch points)
  • Develop and document activities maintenance procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Researching and ordering parts and keeping inventory.
  • Hire, teach, mentor, and coach maintenance staff.
  • Oversee seasonal and year round work crew. Assign daily tasks and workloads. Maintain weekly schedule to insure appropriate coverage.
  • Responsible for ensuring all required Manufacturer, State, and Federal regulations are meet.
  • Develop a proficient understanding of associated industry standards (ASTM, ANSI, SPRAT, NFPA, Dept. of Oil and Gas)
  • Document and perform required inspections as mandated by Manufacturers, State, Federal, and Vail Resorts guidelines.
  • Working with operations manager to schedule annual inspections. Work with inspectors and agents during inspections and maintain and provide all required information during inspections.
  • Correspond with manufacturers and be the contact person for reviewing and implementing updates and notices.
  • Organize construction/build-up of seasonal activities.
  • Must work efficiently in a team oriented environment and communicate/work with other departments effectively.
  • Assist with construction of new activities.
  • Assist with staff training.
  • Assist with operations when needed, having passed the Operations Training and be able to engage guests while exhibiting Vail Resorts Core Values.
  • Other functions/duties as assigned.
     

 Qualifications:

  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License & Satisfactory Driving Record (in accordance with VR Drivers Policy).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to do physical work, stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive motions
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work at heights up to and in excess of 100’ above the ground in a physically demanding environment.
  • Able to work in restricted spaces.
  • Mechanical background and aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, and Coupa.
  • Able to communicate clearly with Guests and other Employees and is fluent in spoken and written English.
     
    Preferred Skills:
  • Operational experience relevant to outdoor adventure activities.
  • Experience with technical/mechanical aspects of Canopy tours, Challenge Courses, and other outdoor adventure activities.
  • Experience working with, or ability to learn, a wide variety of equipment such as skid steer, forklift, snow blower, snowmobile, truck (street and mountain), UTV, etc.
  • Experience working at height with rope access, work positioning, and fall arrest systems
  • Knowledge of NDT techniques and rigging, or ability to learn.
  • Industry certifications or willingness to achieve them (NAARSO, AIMS, ACCT, SPRAT)
     
     

 

 

The budgeted range starts at $20.00 - $26.20.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
