Job Summary:

The Director of Sales & Marketing at the Hythe will lead the property’s sales department, overseeing bookings for over 300 rooms and significant local catering revenue. This person manages the property's reactive and proactive sales efforts, and provides day to day leadership to sales associates to achieve property sales objectives, with overall responsibility for achieving booking goals and property revenues. As the Director, this person implements the brand’s service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process, and focuses on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the hotel’s’ sales objectives. As such, this person will evaluate the property’s participation in the various sales channels and develop strong working relationships to proactively position and market the property. This Director manages the marketing budget to enable development of property specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet property objectives; they will also interface with regional marketing communications for regional and national promotions pull through. This leader will also be expected to develop and implement property–wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand’s target customer profile and property associates and provides a return on investment to the owner, Vail Resorts and Marriott International.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $121,000 - $156,000 + Annual Bonus

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the property’s sales department and sales strategy
  • Develop annual and long-term sales goals and strategies
  • Manage both proactive and reactive sales efforts
  • Drive group, transient and catering business
  • Develop strategic account plans for major demand generators
  • Increase occupancy, RevPAR and overall market share
  • Analyze competitive hotels, market trends and the hotel’s STAR/competitive reports
  • Lead the sales team, including coaching, performance management and development
  • Work closely with Revenue Management, Group Sales, Area Sales, Event Management and Marketing
  • Build relationships with major local, regional and national accounts
  • Represent The Hythe at tradeshows, client events and community functions
  • Oversee the property’s marketing communications strategy and budget
  • Develop campaigns and promotions designed to increase revenue
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for the General Manager and property leadership
  • Ensure a seamless transition from sales → event execution → operations
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve issues related to booked business
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales/financial presentations
  • Help ensure the hotel delivers a strong return on investment for Vail Resorts, the owner and Marriott International
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Job Requirements:

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, plus 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, plus 2 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience supervising a team.
  • Previous lodging sales experience.
  • Hotel industry experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance. 

 

The expected pay range is $121,000 - $156,000 + Annual Bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
