Job Summary:

One Job, double the benefits! The Director of Housekeeping for the Hythe, Luxury Collection Vail, is responsible for managing the daily operations of the housekeeping operations to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and guest satisfaction are maintained, working as both a managed Vail Resorts property, and Franchised Marriott Luxury Collection.

This position will provide oversight and heavy operational guidance of guest rooms and public areas, as well as the management of all housekeeping activities including budget reviews, ordering supplies, scheduling, staffing, contract staff management, room inspections, as well as training, disciplining, and developing leadership, seasonal and year-round employees.

  • The expected range is $70,000 - $80,000 + annual bonus 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain good communication and work relationships within all departments in the hotel, and with external customers and suppliers.
  • Manage onsite Laundry Operations.
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction levels and monitor trends through guest survey and other means, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Operate within departmental budgets through effective stock and cost controls and well managed schedules.
  • Analyze data and compile reports on expenditures, wages, labor, supplies etc. in relation to hotel financial forecasts and budgets
  • Set departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, and ensure that company’s policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Conduct, direct, and participate in all departmental inventories; keep records of all inventories for future references.
  • Continuous visual and documented inspection of guest rooms and public spaces including restaurants, corridors, lounges, etc ensuring all areas are upto Marriott Luxury BSA standards.
  • Ensure staffing levels cover business demands.
  • Ensure regular staff meetings are conducted, post-meeting minutes generated, and follow-up items completed.
  • Ensure providing appropriate training for all employees and departmental leadership and ensure proper labelling of hazardous supplies in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Manage staff performance issues in compliance with Vail Resorts and Marriott policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, manage, train and develop the Housekeeping team; conduct ongoing trainings for existing and new staff.
  • Manage the H2B and Seasonal J1 programs including co-ordination with corporate team as well as all pre-arrival communication, organization and expectations for successful seasonal onboarding’s.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with residence homeowners, and respond to their requests promptly and professionally.
  • Evaluate condition of furniture, fixtures, décor etc, and make recommendations and assist in the co-ordination of rehab/capital projects.
  • Align with all vail resort and marriott policies, procedures and standards of operation.
  • Ensures the housekeeping department leads the change in regards to recycling efforts and environmental initiatives.
  • Active participation in on property committees including as senior leadership team representative for housekeeping operations.
  • Additional tasks as required.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma – required.
  • Previous experience in managing a hotel/resort housekeeping department.
  • Progressive record of accomplishment in housekeeping leadership – Strongly preferred.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend sophisticated correspondence in English – required
  • Ability to effectively present detailed information both verbally and in written form to guests and employees throughout the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build team mentality within and outside Housekeeping department – required.
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve with guests, employees, and various other departments within the resort – required.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking ability – preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis – required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and outlook
  • Marriott program background including lightspeed, GXP, BSA, Qpower etc preferred.
  • Vail resorts system background including, Peoplesoft, Coupa, successfactors etc preferred.
  • Progressive record of accomplishment in housekeeping leadership – Strongly preferred.

 

The expected pay range is $70,000 - $80,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
