Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $20 / hour
    • If hired into a tipped position, guaranteed to make a minimum of $20 / hour inclusive of tips

Responsible for ensuring that all Resort guests have the highest quality food and beverage dining experience possible while assisting in the creation of a profitable department that is environmentally responsible. Follows the brand standards from the beginning of the service cycle through the entire dining process. Exhibits strong menu and beverage/wine knowledge, is professional and gracious while enhancing the dining experience through outstanding service skills.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Exhibits a professional demeanor through appearance and by maintaining a positive attitude toward all employees, management and guests.  Capable of working as part of a cohesive team and maintaining a positive, proactive attitude. 

  • Ensures that the guest experience is pleasant in regard to atmosphere, service, pace of dining and quality of food and beverage products by adhering to the RockResort and Marriott brand standards.

  • Consistently adheres to the uniform standards and always looks clean, neat and professional.

  • Handles all opening and/or closing duties required to properly operate Ocotillo.  Ensures that all stocking is done, the tables are properly set, and the dining room is clean and ready for service. 

  • Attends daily pre-shift huddle and is knowledgeable about daily house counts, VIPs, daily features/soups, etc. 

  • Exhibits strong menu, beverage and wine knowledge and makes recommendations to guests on various offerings. 

  • Consistently follows the steps of the service cycle as outlined in the brand standards for a five diamond/star experience.  Ensures that the timing and flow of service is correctly paced. 

  • Responsible for knowing all table numbers and point seats for proper ringing in of orders.  Capable of learning the point-of sale system and of accurately ringing in all food and beverage items as well as balancing at the end of each shift. 

  • Communicates any special requests or dietary needs to the culinary team for proper execution. 

  • Keeps the manager(s) informed of any issues that might affect service or timing.

  • Gives all lost and found items promptly to the host for notification of Loss Prevention. 

  • Capable of multi-tasking and working at a fast, but thorough pace.  Partners well with other servers and server attendants to provide a "seamless experience" for guests.

  • Assist the department in all recycling and environmental awareness initiatives. 

  • Cross trains with In-Room Dining to assist in order taking and service of all In-Room dining requests.  

  • Maintains excellent communication between different departments in the resort as well as within Food & Beverage.  

  • Practices safe work habits in all types of duties and with all equipment.    

  • Adheres to the compliance of state liquor laws and all health regulations.

  • Complies with all Resort policies, procedures and standards of operation. 

  • Performs any additional tasks or projects as required.


Requirements:

  • High shcool graduate or equivalent

  • Current certification in a nationally recognized program concerning the responsible service of alcohol

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form to fellow employees, guests, and managers.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in customer service and preferably upscale Food and Beverage

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is helpful.

 

The budgeted range starts at $20.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
