Job Summary:
Diagnose plumbing malfunctions and make the needed repairs or modifications to the plumbing and fixtures as needed to keep the systems operating efficiently at all times.  Perform the equipment manufacturer’s suggested maintenance programs on a fixed schedule. Supervise the activities of the seasonal plumbers and coordinate their efforts with other Department to achieve GTLC and Vail Resorts goals.

Be knowledgeable of the company’s management systems, policies and initiatives for Hospitality, Environmental, and Health and Safety.  You have specific responsibilities within these areas and are expected to understand and implement them.

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $52,000.00 - $57,797.00

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and plan plumbing repair, maintenance, and new construction projects on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule.
  • Supervision of seasonal plumber crew, including scheduling and monitoring of work. (time and labor)
  • Track and report hours worked by work order or project and report in a timely manner to the Building Mechanical Manager.
  • Goal is to limit administrative duties to no more than 30 minutes/day (93% hands-on/7% admin).
  • Track Market Metrix, Brand Standards, and NPS audits and scores and work for continual improvement. Know and implement the standards of each.
  • Assist on the planning and implantation of projects to improve the efficient function of all facilities. Create estimates for such projects and track costs.
  • Respond to emergency situations whenever they may occur and take corrective action to resolve the situation.
  • Know appropriate safety standards and design, train, and enforce safety policies
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, equipment and tools on work truck required to perform routine tasks without delays.
  • The journeyman craftsmen will be assigned limited standby duties after hours and weekends, which requires carrying a beeper or two-way radio.  This duty is rotated equally among the department staff.
  • Support companywide environmental management initiatives by identifying opportunities and supporting established efforts to reduce energy use.
  • Ensure compliance with company Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) and all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on proper fuel handling and storage.
  • Observe all requirements for the GTLC Hazard Communication Program
  • Attend training and observe all applicable OSHA and other regulatory compliance programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required by human resources and the EH&S office. Programs include, but not limited to: permit-required confined spaces; respiratory protection; bloodborne pathogens; personal protective equipment (PPE); hearing conservation; electrical safeguarding; lockout-tagout; spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plan (SPCC); drivers safety; and, general proper operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Use all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as instructed by supervisor.
  • Every Maintenance Department staff will be assigned other technical work within the department when maintenance crisis occur within the company or when their particular technical field is temporarily or permanently reduced.  This job summary is intended as a guide, not an all inclusive job description.
  • Must clean up your job site and work area when finished with the assigned task.
  • Serve as eMod (engineering manager on duty) as needed (usually once a week when facilities are operating). This involves being on–call overnight in order to respond to any emergency breakdowns that may occur.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Journeyman Level preferred but will consider equivalent experience.   
  • Prior plumbing experience or equivalent (residential, commercial, industrial) 
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Computer skills: Email
  • Capable of handling moderately strenuous activity such as moving heavy units for repair
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics
  • Systems troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Multiple fields of fields of experience (kitchen, laundry, residential, steam, etc)
