Job Summary:

The Grocery Buyer is responsible for purchasing food and grocery products for 7 of 13 Grand Teton Lodge Company and Flagg Ranch Company locations. This position involves selecting quality items, negotiating prices, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery to maintain appropriate inventory levels. The Buyer must stay informed on market trends, customer preferences, and company sales data to make strategic purchasing decisions that align with company objectives. You are expected to adhere to the company’s mission, vision and value statements, and compliance with the National Park service objectives as a Concessioner. Initiatives for this role include efforts toward sustainability and environmental goals. Be knowledgeable of the company’s management systems, policies and initiatives for Hospitality, Environmental, and Health and Safety.  You have specific responsibilities within these areas and are expected to understand them.

  • The budgeted range starts at $47,840 - $49,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience
  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time, Year Round (10 months)

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of grocery procurement and inventory for seven locations across Flagg Ranch and Grand Teton National Park Stores
  • Source and select grocery products including fresh produce, packaged goods, meat, deli, dairy, snacks, beverages, alcohol, and camping and convenience goods
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and distributors; Handle vendor issues, such as delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns. Review supplier performance regularly and seek alternative sources when necessary. Evaluate suppliers and negotiate terms, including pricing and contracts
  • Ensure products meet quality and safety standards, maintaining compliance with local, state, and national regulations
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchase orders to avoid overstocking and waste
  • Forecast product demand for operating season. Work with Retail and Finance leadership to develop to the departmental budget
  • Analyze market trends, pricing structures, and competitor offerings to make cost-effective purchasing decisions. Analyze item movement reports and store comparison financials to adjust buying strategies
  • Regularly review product margins and recommend adjustments to maintain profitability
  • Track zero waste initiatives not limited to composting, recycling, and elimination of single use plastics
  • Build sourcing to reflect quality, healthy, and local products
  • Maintaining POS pricing and item maintenance and clean up including adherence to NPS pricing guidelines
  • Collaboration with Retail Operations Manager to coordinate and conduct all in- store grocery product training including ordering, stocking, deli, and product knowledge
  • Conduct month end activities including financial accruals, cycle counts
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements and state liquor regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or relevant previous work experience
  • Prior retail management experience preferred
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate across functions
  • Serve Safe food handling
  • Working knowledge of windows based programs (Microsoft Office)
  • Prior experience with Retail Point-of-Sale and inventory management systems
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in an effective manner
  • Well groomed and professional appearance
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and forecast trends, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure, multi task, and meet deadlines

The expected pay range is $47,840 - $49,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
