Job Summary:

Assistant Superintendent, under the supervision of the Head Superintendent, assists in the direction of the staff and the management of operations involved in the grounds maintenance. He or she is responsible for the crew management, supervision and guidance. Responsibilities shall include: assigning daily duties for each employee, proper training to the grounds crew, pesticide and fertilizer applications, irrigation system operation, management of all landscaping, purchasing, record keeping, operation of all maintenance equipment and light construction projects. All work is performed under the direct supervision of the Head Superintendent.You are expected to adhere to the company’s mission, vision and value statements. Be knowledgeable of the company’s Envision Management Systems, policies and initiatives for Quality, Hospitality, Environmental, and Health and Safety. You have specific responsibilities within these areas and are expected to understand them.

  

Job Specifications:  

  • Starting Wage: $55,000 - $79,800

Job Responsibilities :

  • Assists in general planning and coordination of a golf course grounds maintenance program, including areas such as personnel, budget, and inventory
  • Supervise the daily maintenance operations and ensures that the staff is assigned specific job tasks throughout the day-to-day activities
  • Assists in planning, scheduling, and implementing a repair and preventive maintenance program for all golf course equipment
  • Ensures the daily setup and course conditions are consistent with our standards and continue to meet or exceed our market matrix surveys
  • Sets the irrigation system schedule and programs to ensure the course is sufficiently irrigated and not over-watered. Daily monitoring of greens and areas succeptile to too dry or wet conditions will have to be adjusted accordingly
  • Supervises the completion of all in house construction projects
  • Provides input in budgeting and purchasing
  • Keeps an accurate inventory and application record of all pesticides and chemicals, and ensures a safe environmental
  • Assists in all training and safety meetings of the entire maintenance staff
  • Stays in compliance of university, federal, and state regulatory agencies
  • Buildings and facility maintenance, security, and safety in accordance to the OSHA VPP Program
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Job Requirements :

  • Must possess a two or four year degree in turfgrass management or an equivalent certificate from an accreditted university
  • Minimum 3 years golf course maintenance experience
  • Minimum 1 year of managing golf maintenance staff
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a legal citizen of the United States.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Physical strength, stamina and agility.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to properly use hand tools, power tools and mowing equipment.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and be an effective leader.
  • Self motivation and ability to work well with others.

 

The expected pay range is $55,000 - $79,800. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
