Job Summary:

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for business development and group/tour execution activities across in-park locations to support overall company objectives. General areas of responsibility include developing the group and tour sales strategies, developing an annual marketing plan, and overseeing the sales, marketing, and meeting operations team to execute these plans successfully to meet financial goals and drive client satisfaction and loyalty. Serves as a key public representative for GTLC in the community, and oversees all communications and public affairs activities.

  • The budgeted range starts at $80,000 - $100,00 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and oversees execution of annual sales and marketing plans to meet budgeted rooms revenue, room night, and ancillary revenue goals
  • Assesses group (meetings, weddings, etc.) and tour business opportunities and supports sales staff in generating proposals and negotiating contracts
  • Monitors, tracks and reports on group and tour business pacing, pickup, forecasts, and trends; utilizes business and market intelligence to make informed recommendations relating to strategic business decisions including rates, promotions, budgets and forecasts, etc.
  • Directly oversees management of key repeat group and tour accounts, and maintains positive relationships with clients across business segments as well as internal and external stakeholders (department heads, corporate colleagues, National Park Service, industry partners, etc.)
  • Serves as the primary communications leader and oversees all public affairs, in partnership with the National Park Service as appropriate
  • Ensures complete and accurate information/history on group and tour business is maintained in appropriate systems/files
  • Provides direction and oversight on operational SOPs relating to group and tour business, and supports operations teams in-season
  • Oversee sales and marketing P&L and is responsible for the annual budget process for the department as well as monthly forecasting; oversees and manages all department labor and expense spending
  • Hires and directly supervises small year-round team and indirectly supervises small seasonal team; provides coaching and development opportunities
  • Partners with operations to monitor and address service issues with groups and tours while managing client expectations
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), participates in key decision-making activities and contributes to the overall direction and success of the organization as a whole
  • Maintains a positive presence in the local, state and national travel community as a representative for GTLC/FRC
  • Some limited business travel may be required

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree
  • 7-10 years experience
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Delphi, PMS system

 

The expected pay range is $80,000 - $100,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
