Job Summary

The Radio Dispatcher provides clear and concise communications regarding lift status, on mountain emergencies, and on mountain movements as well as necessary updates.  The Radio Dispatcher performs all such dispatch functions and maintains record keeping of all Mountain Operation departments such as Lift Maintenance, Lift Operations, Ski Patrol, Terrain Park, Snowmaking, Grooming, and other regulatory agencies.  Communication and updates to any and all affected resort departments is also required. This position is the communication center for all of Mount Sunapee Resort utilizing telephones, radios, and computer processes. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Works as direct mountain operations and front line staff communication during resort opening and closing procedures.
  • Supplies status and progress reports to all pertaining resort department operating groups
  • Helps handle daily routine situations, emergency situations, and other various on mountain events or actions with all various resort departments
  • Utilize radios, phones, computer processes to communicate and generate reports mountain wide and across various media tools

 

Job Specifications

  • Starting Wage:  $20 / hour
  • Shift & Schedule Availability:  Full Time
    • Weekends & Holidays 6:00am to 4:30pm and Mid-Week 7:00 am to 4:30pm 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Announce Dispatch arrival and departure
  • Log, track, and communicate processes of daily lift start up and closing procedures
  • Track any ski lift, building, or equipment LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out); Do not allow power up by any department or person if LOTO.
  • Log and announce emergent and non-emergent mountain specific events as they occur and keep current with updates.
  • Update Mountain Live and Twitter accounts with pertaining lift status, parking lot status, weather, photos, event status, etc
  • Perform informative calls on “call list” if a lift is down for longer than 10 minutes
  • Note any and all lift efficiency changes and why
  • Track, update, and manage data collected from each lift stop log on a regular basis
  • Call all lift bases at scheduled opening time(s) giving permission to open and load public if all departmental checks have been completed.
  • Assist with all lift operator, ski patrol, lift maintenance, etc communications and concerns as needed
  • Assist communications with off mountain departments so that all are informed of any changes that may affect them as well.
  • Log locations and movement of all snowmobile traffic at start up and throughout the day.
  • Note location and movement of any and all snowcat/groomer(s), if occurring during the day.
  • Most importantly, analyze and discriminate all logs in an effort to provide safe, efficient decisions throughout the daily flow of mountain operations to keep our employees and guests safe and happy.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to multitask in a sometimes stressful situation
  • Previous radio experience preferred
  • Experience in Lift Operations and/or Lift Maintenance or Ski Patrol preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a large team with a helpful, innovative attitude
  • Valid driver’s license preferred and reliable transportation in all weather
  • Knowledge of Mount Sunapee preferred
  • Willingness to work long hours

 

 

 

The budgeted range starts at $20.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
