Job Summary:

Mount Sunapee Lift Operations is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic leader who will manage a safe and fun work environment with the ability to adapt to any situation.  You are the lift operations guru, the leader, the motivator, the top dog of your department.   You are responsible for the success of your Lift Operators, Team Lead and Leads.  You will help the lift operations department succeed by ensuring that your team has the tools, knowledge and support they need to perform their jobs.  You will help to ensure that our guests have a safe, friendly and efficient experience while utilizing our lift system.  You want to work with fun, self-aware people, who want to develop into Vail Resorts next leaders.  You will always set the standard for your team by being safe, looking good, and having fun!

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be Safe
    • Regularly inspect lift stations to make sure they are in compliance with ramp heights, required signs, children pull backs etc…
    • Always set the example and ensure that your teams are adhering to all ski/ride polices
    • Coach and or discipline any personnel who are not in compliance with our safety policies
    • Protect the welfare of yourself and your team
    • Perform and train staff on start-ups on lifts, operate snowmobiles, trucks, and snow blowers safely
  • Serve Others
    • Be a main point of contact for our guests with issues and follow through until the issue is resolved to the best of your ability
    • Touch base with every Lift Operator on your teams daily, answer questions, coach, correct, and offer support.
    • Monitor maze set up and maze control.  Coach and train when needed.  Set the example and show them how it’s done
    • Support managers and senior manager in the operation of the resorts lift system and management of the operations team
  • Do Right
    • Keep lift logs and all other paperwork up to date
    • Set the example for your team by following company and departmental policies and procedures i.e., punctuality, attendance, dress and grooming standards, etc…
    • Make sure that all Lift Operators are receiving fair and timely breaks
    • Keep confidential information safe, do not discuss personnel issues with front line staff
    • Help other departments succeed by remembering we are a service to them
  • Drive Value
    • Help to protect the company and its assets
    • Help the lift teams know how to adapt to changing business levels to ensure that the guests are getting the most efficient and safe experience
    • Make recommendations to your Supervisor, if you feel that the work force can be reduced due to business levels
    • Work with the ticket scanning team to ensure all riders have a valid ticket; refuse entry to riders without a valid ticket and refer to appropriate personnel for assistance
    • Make sure that tools are being used for the appropriate job and help to train any Lift Operators on how to use the tools correctly
    • Continue and monitor on hill training

    • Participate in Epic Promise activities and help to promote Epic Promise
    • Ensure recycled materials are disposed of properly
    • Turn off lights, keep doors shut, help to reduce our carbon footprint
    • Help to preserve our natural environment

  • Must like to have fun and work in a team environment
  • Must be at least 18 years old at beginning of employment
  • Must have some leadership experience
  • Must have some lift operations experience - Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be safety oriented - Required
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and/or evenings as necessary. We are a 7-day a week operation. - Required
  • Ski or snowboard at an Intermediate level - Required
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, hear, see, repetitive motions, carry - Required
  • Strong guest service skills – Required
