Job Summary

Come live, work and play in the Beautiful lakes region of Southern New Hampshire, We have a legacy competition program that most recently has been recognized as USSA Silver certified and has been previously been selected by USSA as a Development Club of the Year.

As the manager of our Competition Services department, you will have an opportunity to train and develop talent in both the race crew and competition coaching teams. As part of the Skier Services Leadership Team, you will work with multiple mountain departments to coordinate the operations of your programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire and support the education and development of the coaching staff and race crew. Oversight of competition coaches and race crew through head coaches and team leads. Input on website and marketing in terms of ensuring that website program descriptions and products are updated published and working in concert with sales and fulfillment. Oversee and execute customer service with phone calls/emails.
  • Outreach to local schools and manage communication and venue scheduling and team ticketing for training and competitions. Always look to increase opportunities for employee engagement /trainings while fostering leadership skills for all staff so they have the tools to be successful.  Provide trainings throughout the season that align with program methodology from USSA and PSIA/AASI. Be open to listening and understanding staff needs and possess the ability to utilize staff in a way that supports personal strengths and the needs of the business.
  • Oversee athlete program development with the Head Alpine and Freestyle coaches. Design and input programming specific to Development teams and manage the pipeline into our competition teams. Train coaches, head coaches and parents on expectations, teaching plans, evaluations, communication matrix and season long program development strategy. Update athlete data in a communication platform. Manage program tuition, refunds, waitlist, inventory and athletes to staff ratios.
  • Program Development: Oversee the development and program implementation for up to 300 young athletes in a variety of ages and motivations. Oversight of scheduling staff for all programs. Manage and oversee up to 4 Head Coaches, 60 coaching staff, and 30 Race Crew. Foster future relationships with local schools to grow the established mid-week race venue and training business model. Understand the athlete pipeline to develop future committed athletes and lifelong skiers and riders. Educate parents about program options: Host orientations, design and update handbooks that define clear expectations,  work with support staff and resort leadership to lead and handle situations in a way that develop trust from the parents and athletes.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to support staff and maintain integrity in the midst of difficult situations with an emphasis on risk management and implementing a safe working environment.
  • Must haves are the ability to educate and support staff as they implement season long programs, understand the needs of the competition focused athlete and their development within a strong resort community. 
  • The ability to create lasting relationships with parents, athletes and our coaching staff.
  • Must also be able to ski and ride in all weather conditions.
  • Understanding of the outdoor recreation industry with willingness to learn develop and grow.
  • A strong background in Alpine, Freestyle or Snowboard competition as either a competitor, coach or official, ideally a combination of these. Experience with event development and production - competition venue preparation for alpine racing a plus, as is the ability to learn from mistakes. Some knowledge of Vail RPOS and HR systems also a plus.

The expected pay range is $47,100 - $68,175. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
